10 Box incoming...

I have taken the plunge... another 4 battle-chests ordered to add to the six accounts i have already.

thought i'd get some alts into the guild before its totally filled with Cyrberus & Aoe's armies..

so for the next couple of months it looks like its gonna be RAF attack time. (got the boosting schedule down to a fine art now :cool:)

1-11: Quest
11-20: Shadowfang Keep
20-40: Scarlet Monastery
40-45: Scholomance
45-48: Stratholme
48-53: Sunken Temple
53-57: Upper and Lower Blackrock spire
57-60: Hellfire Ramparts and Blood Furnace

Boosting will be done with an 84 Mage (portals help for getting to ST and Shatt) Arcane Explosion spam FTW

current RAF plan: new accounts 1&2 and 3&4 linked together

4x mages
4x Druids
4x Druids
4x Hunters
4x Priests
4x Shaman

gift levels:
1x Mage
1x Druid x2
1x Paladin

with a couple of character transfers, should give me flexibility to 10 box Mages, 10 box Druids and some interesting mixed teams

Quick update:

wow, i'd forgotten how fast it is to boost with RAF.

3 runs of SFK and my first set of mages are up to 17 (2 levels per run)

total time played so far 2hr 49min

2:09 questing (inc. setting up ui)
40 mins SFK

Quick update:
1st set of Druids done
2nd set up to lvl 20

Had a quick play around with running 9 mages in central oggrimar tonight, system was running @40-50 on the main, couldn't see the fps on slaves, but it was acceptable ( haven't got round to moving a granted mage over to the 10th account yet)

I'm curious what are you goals with 10 boxing? The vast majority of WOTLK raid content could be 10 boxed, but Cata raids have a lot more going on. Do you intend to 10 box any BWD BOT bosses? I'm not saying it's impossible I'm just curious as to what motivates you. I pretty much ditched the 10 boxing with CATA.

my primary goal will probably be pvp focused (hence the 10 mages and 10 druids)
I would like to have a go at some of the 10 man instances.

1-60 with RAF is nothing. I leveled like 5 teams in a week. Once you are out of RAF, without full heirloom gears (helm, shoulder, back, chest, ring), it is killing me lol. 60-80 is so painful.

60-80 is kind of rough. However, when you are 10-boxing, DEFINITELY level up two teams at once. Obviously they'll be in two teams of five to get quest credit, but a simple /follow macro where one team lead follows the other does the trick. Do all your quests with them together.

Doing ten at once takes longer than doing a single 5-man team, but nowhere near the time to do two 5-man teams sequentially. There is a ton of time spent travelling and finding the right mobs that you only have to do once with ten.

Yet another advantage of ten boxing.

so... i have 6 weeks left on raf ... looks like a have quite a bit of levelling to be getting on with. thankfully raf now goes to 80 so, i will be prioritising specific teams first and see how it goes from there

Only levelled to 70, as I have yet to upgrade the accounts past burning crusade

Have made a Decision that I'm going to drop the second set of Druids as I don't think they would be a viable 10 box setup

Boosting schedule
60 first couple of quests in HFP (kill the demons, destory the gateways and the 2x bombing runs) which opens up the weaken the Ramparts quest
60-64 ramps and blood furnace (4 runs each) - including the omninous letter q, weaken the ramps and blood is thicker q's
64-70 sethekk halls (11 runs) and shadow labs (1 run) including all quests (2x sethekk and 3x shadow labs)
Ring of blood questline.

Takes about 5-7 hours to complete per set of characters (depending on breaks)

(this is the last group on raf doing outlands)

theres no prereqs for those sethic/shadow labs quests?

Also, i find that going to Northrend at 68 is better than staying in BC. I go and get the quests for the first few dungeons and get some gear ( quests from 68 to 70ish ) it flies.. i skip collection quests. The Northrend quest gear helps with the 70+ dungeons

i will probably be more based on questing from 70-80, as they will each need around 8k for flying lessons :(

my characters at the moment are equipped in appropriate level blues, from all the instances, by the time i get them all to endgame (which will only be around 50% -75% then they will be quested to basic 85 standard)

wow6 doesn't need any melee, as i can mix and match where required - i can pick a tank/ melee character from another account to be used

no prereqs for the q's other than sethekk you need to be lvl 65 and shadow labs you need to be 68 to start the quests.

68-70 is essentailly :
1x run shadow labs - with quests (pretty much gets you the full level)
the ring of blood questline (around half of lvl 69)
2x runs of Sethekk Halls.

the only reason i did it this way was when i started the boost i only had the accounts loaded with BC, so couldn't go to northrend, which as you pointed out would be far quicker

running with raf approx 116 quests in Borean tundra gets you from 70 to 76!! - skipping quite a few of the collection q's
(including one run of the Nexus and the 4 quests)

76-78 - Scholazar Basin (nessingwary's bascamp and freya Questlines)
78-78.5 Ampitheater of Anguish in Zul Drak
78.5-80 Icecrown (argent crusade start bit)

time to 80 -
1 day 9 hours 23 minutes on Mages (no Heirlooms)
1 day 7 hours 14 minutes on Hunters (helm and cloak)

slow weekend (literally) due to lag issues with Virgin Cable - had to temp fix the issue with manually setting the MTU to 900.

on a side note, wouldnt it be quicker to move out of borean tundra before 76? I would assume you'd get more xp from the easy quest nodes in dragonblight for example, with on top alot of elite mob quests. Or is the travelling to taxing?

I found that questing is fast BUT if can clear WotLK instances, it is much faster. If you have a hard time..like you die a lot, then questing is faster for sure.

it would probably be quicker to move to Dragonblight, but i have the quest set memorized, so i'm pretty much running on autopilot most of the time.

I doubt that Sam's method is quicker, because he just ignores evryones advice and just levels on grinding.
