Working towards getting my first team to 75. Definitely going alchemy as the first prof maybe thinking of getting tailoring for dreamcloth transmute?

Already have inscription, enchanting and jc on my original chars. Mainly looking for an second easy 2min prof like alch. What are your team profs?

Any team that is a consideration for heroics has one toon with Enchanting.
I tend to have Skinning, Herbalism and Mining across each of my teams, although I rarely farm I like the option to grab anything I come across.

All except two of my toons (who are 75+) have Alchemy as one of their two.

Truegold and thus alchemy is gonna kick ass at the start of 4.2.

Makes sense. Will try out tailoring on one first and if it's not profitable then look at other options thanks.

this.

Tailoring on your tank (counter intuitive from a benefit perspective, but it means that you can loot tons of extra cloth in northrend and cata without having to switch off your tank) and enchanting on another toon. I have alchemy on all but one of my 85 team.

Because I wanted something cheap and fast I did herbalism on two toons (+80 average haste with a little heal), then blacksmithing on my healer (you only need to get partway through wrath level bsing to get the wrist and glove sockets, not all the way to cata) and now I'm working on JC on one of my mages to have a second set of dailies and get the gem patterns I want faster once epic gems hit.

PS. Alchemy is cheap and you may want to try to keep it at the same level for your team so that you'll actually use the low level elixers rather than junking them!

additionally: Alchemy gives you a 359 trinket, a daily transmute worth 100+ gold (I do volatile life to airs, 4-19g x 15) and double length flasks (and a permanent half flask, if you're feeling cheap). All for 2-4k gold. No other profession comes anywhere near the price or the benefits.

Why is truegold going up in price in 4.2?

Should I be saving my TG now or sell at a small profit (like air/fire/water is costing 350 and 15g for the bar so like 365 and I am sell at 430ish or so /of course I benifit from trasmute skill/)?

most (if not all) boxers now run with some form of IWT, so you don't need to shift focus off your tank. just glance at the tailors window and check if the mob is sparking and use IWT to loot the cloth drop. same principle for herbing and mining mobs

I'm stacking all truegold I can get to craft the new gear that comes out in 4.2 and that requires truegold.

It's a little crazy almost robotic but what I'm brainstorming about is imagine 4 accounts full of lvl 75s. Each char is setup:
1. alchemy, life to air daily profit 150g on my server
2. Tailoring, 5 dreamcloths per week, sell illusionary bags, all averaged out to a daily profit amount of also 150g (goblin brains required).

Total profit for 1 char is 300g per day.
1 char would be 9,000g per month.
4 chars would be 24,000 per month.
40 chars (10 teams of 4, basically all slots used) 240,000

Not sure how your math is nor am I sure about the evolution of math in modern times, but back when I was in school when the animals could still talk ..

9000*4 is NOT 24,000

:D

you probably mean 360k

Either way if you take a fraction of the time to level up 40 toons to 75 to learn how the AH addons work in detail and what can be achieved with them, you can easily make the same amount of gold with maybe 1% of the time spend. Logging in 40 toons a day, provide them with mats, do the transmute and mail them is quite a pain in the ass as well.

Yea sorry I got yanked from Starbucks and rather than start again later I just posted the half finished not checked post. I smacked my head after I lost connection and reread my post.

So proper maths:
4 chars would be 36,000g per month
40 chars would be 360,000g per month

Agreed it will take time leveling them up but after that it's passive income (1 team at a time of course). I already earn 100-200k a month from ah wheeling and dealing. This is attractive because once a week u post out enough mats for 1 week to 4 chars, then 30second transmutes daily, 5mins of cloth transmutes a week, 1 bag every 2 weeks. APM makes mailing out airs to centralized banker even faster.

Don't have tailoring was hoping someone could test this on one 75 alt. Whatever profit u get multiply that by your spare alts. Is this a good form of passive income.

Or think of it as 360k for us$60 a month. Cheap!

Problem with tailoring/bs/lw is that you need to be able to get to the quartermaster to buy the recipes in twilight highlands. Which is 84 afaik.

Just checked WH, it says can buy recipe from org/sw now for 1 dreamcloth. I heard this was a 4.1 change.

From someone who has 34 alchemists..

Sure I'm close to 800k now, and am +400k since the launch of Cataclysm.
The alchemy definitely makes a lot of gold, over time.

But there's no way I log into the game every day and consistently do all the transmutes.
There was a period where I wasn't excited about a new team yet, and they had announced nerfs that would kill my ferals as a competitive team.... so I did my Alchemy consistently for 45 mins a day, as my subscription was still going for 3.5 additional months at that point.
That was probably the longest period of consistently doing the transmutes on all toons, every day.

The other thing...
My auction toon averages 8g per Volatile Life purchased.
And averages 18g70s per Volatile Air sold in 1's, 5's or 10's, and 22g per Volatile Air sold in 20's, 50's or 100's.
But when your transmutes supply you with more Air than people are buying, the stockpile doesn't earn you anything.
I've had periods where I have 4000 Volatile Air in "stock", either because the market was flooded with 9g Volatile Air for a week by some idiot who listed in a larger volume than I wanted to buy out, or whatever...
On my server, I average 10-12 stacks sold per day listed as 5's and 10's, and 4-5 stacks (of each size) per day listed as 20's, 50's or 100's.

I'd look at Alchemy as a means to make consistent levels of gold.
Which over time, form a very respectable passive income.
But not something that can and will always make... a x b x c = d.... gold per month.

8g for a volatile life? It's less than 1g on my server. Guess there arent many alchemists. That probably makes it more interresting to make some more alchemists.
