DPS Question

I've been gearing up my mixed team. My mage is doing 10K+ in crap gear. On my shaman team, my i350+ elemental shamans typically run around 9kish in a dungeon run.

What kind of number are you guys seeing? Are my shamans typical or do I need to revisit my macro's? I'm doing the 2step macros using ISboxer.

I've seen people advertise doing 20-25k dps in trade chat. I recently switched to second shift so I havent raided in Cata. Are these numbers realistic? How about for a boxer?

Is this single target DPS vs say the Heroic or Normal target dummy?
Is that with buffs from the group for each toon, or running solo?

I'd imagine 25k to the Whelps in Onyxia would be relatively easy for a raid buffed AoE toon, but a lot harder against a solo boss, especially with less than full raid buffs.

I don't have Shammies at 85th or Mages, so cannot comment on either really.

My elemental shamans also put out around 9k (ilvl348+). With a little bit luck and no movement, i can get aroudn 10-11k.

I have tried many things to get a better DPS (focus on Hast, focus on Mastery, chanche macros...), but i always endet at the same.

I've found that elemental shamans have some of the lowest dps (given equivalent gear/skill) of any class. My evidence is only anecdotal, but this is based on months of boxing, pugging heroics and raiding (with only 1 toon). I'm not surprised in the least by the OP's dps. I am in the same boat.

I've given up trying to box heroics (other than SFK) and am now pugging heroics with each toon solo to gear each up. I may go back to trying to box heroics after 4.2, if only to try and get Glory of the Cataclysm Hero.

Maybe our shaman has too many hit points? I am slowly replacing the gear with spirits, or reforge them. Noticed some increase in dps, but need to validate the dps figure.

I got tired of having one set of gear for heroics and one set for raiding, so I just have all my toons capped at +17% hit. Obviously, that accounts for some of the "low" dps. But I'm also comparing my toons to other people's in my guild who raid.


Not considering VP, BRD and HoO?
I tried VP, but couldn't kill the end boss. I asked for help in the Dungeon strat forums here, but still haven't gotten a response. I could see maybe doing BRD, but I'm not sure I could do HoO.
