set your background FPS to 10-15

set your windows to use different cores.

All this is under your character sets screen

First, if you're running XFire (the chat thing from xfire.com, not ATI crossfire), disable the in-game features. If you're running Mumble with in-game overlay you may get a similar performance issue as with XFire in-game.

Then, what Oatboat said.

Then since you gave nothing to go on and I know nothing about how you set up your windows before, I guess I would point you at the Quick Start Guide: http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Quick_Start_Guide#Performance_considerations

If none of that helps, then: What kind of PC do you have? (CPU, GPU, RAM, version of windows) how many monitors?

it certainly uses more resources than keyclone when I switched and I noticed a performance drop; this is personally down to my 19th century PC. The 2 hamsters look knackered.

Load all new addon updates, any old addon that you load with the "load out of date addons" that has an update that you didn't download on your computer yet is going to tank your fps.
