I'm tired of paying taxes to some faceless NPC entity. I would much rather my taxes go towards something more useful, like one of DBs Corps. Which ones are still active and accepting new players? Peanut is sitting at around 1.5m SP flies a cruiser atm, but it only a couple days from a battlecruiser or a retriever. She has decent probing skills and I've tinkered with some PI. The other two alts are nowhere near this yet.
Mainly, I like exploration and the occasional mining bout when I find something interesting (or I want to catch up on my reading).

Are you just wanting to do your own thing in hisec but be a part of a corp? You're pretty new for wormhole life, but we have some members that are mining and whatnot in hisec that are in CTR.

Alternative option is to join either Cybernetic Legion or Pieces of Eight, both are hisec based but pretty small at the moment. If you're up for contributing towards a POS in return for research access then Pieces of Eight is a better choice, if you just want some peace, quiet, and low taxes away from the NPC corps then Cybernetic Legion is the one to go for.

Being part of a group and working towards goals is nothing new to me. I gravitated towards raiding guilds back when I still played WoW. However, I really have enjoyed doing my own thing in the various MMOs I've dabbled in over the past year. There's something to be said for not being 'required' to log on a play a game, when you'd much rather take the gf out to dinner and a movie instead.
As someone who's enjoying exploration, the idea of WH life sounds intriguing. But I dont think my pilots are skilled up enough for that just yet. Other than good probing skills, what else should I train for in order to try out that aspect of the game? Maybe after I skill up enough, I could join in and actually contribute to CTR's wh adventures.
Until then, I guess I should hang out in hisec for a bit. As far as the Pieces of Eight and Cybernetic Legion go... What region are they based out of? What is their focus? How many active members are there? And what would I be expected to contribute in Pieces of Eight? (I'm assuming CL is more carefree at the moment?)

I'd say for us wormhole life goes in the following order:
Probing is by default required to be able to get in/out/find anything.
1. Planetary Interaction - your bread and butter money making. Requires bigger indy ships to move stuff out (Itty 5's usually)
2. Combat Sites - T2 passive tanked Drake can solo these np. You need a good Salvager to salvage wrecks also.
3. The rest - Mining, Radar, Mag, Ladar sites. These come and go and if they are your primary focus you'll find yourself bored a lot.
4. PVP - There are always interlopers in the wormhole (well, not always) you can try to find to shoot at.

Or there's them nice Russian gank squads who like to invade our home and then sit there waiting to bait us out (hasn't worked yet though lol)

Probing - This I have sorted out. I scan down several systems a night, as time permits. But I still need to skill my alts for it.
1. Planetary Interaction - Dabbled in this already and plan on making it the focus of my team training next week. I really want to try out the 'PI alt-farm' that you posted about.
2. Combat Sites - How would a team of T2 Myridoms fair against these? (I really like drone boats)
3. The rest - Mining, Radar, Mag, Ladar sites. No problems here.
4. PVP - Russian Gank Squads. Big problem here. I have yet to PvP in this game. I'm sure I'd be little more than shark bait for these guys. I guess I'll have to find some way to gain some skill in this area. lol
tl;dr Looks like at least one more month of training is in order. And then a huge PvP learning curve to overcome. I can do that.

Drone boats don't work versus wormhole rats (called sleepers). They really really really like to kill drones. I rarely even deploy mine anymore while ratting. Drones are still nice for pvp though.

Myrmidon can mount a decent set of rails/blasters too - although I think the Brutix would be a better choice if you're not emphasising drones.

That's what I was thinking. Brutix is the blaster boat. So I can work towards that. This means I'll actually have to train some turret skills on the alts now. So far the plan for them was to drop drones and just remote rep me when needed.
But back to the topic at hand. Which hisec DB Corp to join?

Whichever you want. Not much going on in hisec except for people "soloing".

Join pieces of eight because I need a slave to fill the POS with fuel!
Seriously though, join pieces of eight, we have good Caldari Navy standing and a POS brimming with labs for research and assembly arrays for manufacturing. I've managed to get the labs fairly busy with some intensive research but manufactuing nothing so far.

Where is the POS for Pieces of Eight? I just moved regions, but haven't really settled down yet. I could be persuaded to move again and start up some PI for POS fuel.
