View Full Version : Asking god if he believes in Jesus - Vetra

Well this question is kinda like asking God if he believes in Jesus but hey I need to ask it none the less !

Next week I am going to be putting an order in for several new hardware parts as i have finally hit 70 with my paladin / shaman group and want to get my setup just right.

I am now on a 90/10 basis that I will be buying an 8 port multiplexer from vetra, http://vetra.com/848text.html and here comes the question :)

I will of course be purchasing it from the US and having it shipped to the UK (as per my other post) the shipping is costing $150 ~ which is a LOT of money for shipping although understandable. However due to these costs I need to be sure that these products are reliable as sending it back if it doesn't work / goes faulty is going to cost me a fortune. I basically I get it and if it goes wrong I've wasted $500 or so.

I also appreciate that any hardware, no matter how good it is has a chance of going wrong but generally speaking would you "experienced Vetra multiplexer owners" be confident that my purchase would be reliable etc ?

I know the question is in a way impossible to answer just due to random manufacturing bugs but I would truly appreciate any responses you can give :)

Thank you,

- Monk

The reason I turned to Vetra in the first place is because they make Enterprise level gear. You get what you pay for I suppose but I have NEVER had a problem with their hardware in ~ 3 years. It. Just. Works.

Which is more than I can say for most any other product out there.

Although, it IS overpriced compared to the components in it (I suspect it costs no more than $20 - $25 to actually MAKE one of their units) but if you dig down into exactly how they construct it - doing it the RIGHT way as opposed to just making it work - you will be impressed.

Why the hell is shipping $150?

I used to ship HUGE (like, 21" CRT monitor sized) boxes from Japan to California for $40...No idea, that's what I was quoted, I guess going from US - UK with customs etc isn't cheap.

I assumed the components weren't any where near the value but it is nice to know the quality is high and reliable.

Monday could be a good day.

If demand were high enough, we ship stuff to the UK all of the time. I bet I could ship units there for far cheaper than what they ask to ship.

But for only a few units, it isn't worth it :(
