PiP - picture in picture - was created to help the user swap around their maximized clone windows
http://solidice.com/keyclone/keyclone_v1.8e_pip_0.jpg
note that i have region0 selected. i have also set the PiP hotkey for this region to LCTRL+F1.
the hotkey for region1 is LCTRL+F2
the hotkey for region2 is LCTRL+F3
and the hotkey for region3 is LCTRL+F4
here's the starting position. DrJack (yes.. they are noobie test charaters) is in region0
then i hit LCTRL+F2
http://solidice.com/keyclone/keyclone_v1.8e_pip_1.jpg
bam.. region1 has swapped with region0.
then i hit LCTRL+F4
http://solidice.com/keyclone/keyclone_v1.8e_pip_2.jpg
bam... ain't she pretty!
region3 swapped into region1
notice that DrJack is in region3 now.
http://solidice.com/keyclone/keyclone_v1.8e_pip_3.jpg
and with BOOBS, PiP will insure that whenever you hit LCTRL+F2.. you always get the same character swapped into the clone you are sitting on.
enjoy!

Dear Keyclone
you are awesome, this has been uppermost in my mind for some time "now if only I could swap out to the new leader on the main screen this software would be perfect" and now it is. Can't wait to get home. How quick is it? really quick?
If it's really really quick I can see myself changing to different chars all the time mid fight, I might actually get to use my mages aoe spells. Send in the pally, grab aggro, switch to mage1 aoe, mage2 aoe, back to pally etc etc
Thanks a bunch

the speed of the swap will depend on your system
as your small clone moves to the larger clone spot, it will start to render a new, larger image. not a problem, but your graphics card needs to be able to handle it.
one thing to do to help with the load would be to reduce the maxfpsbk... and make sure to cap maxfps. reducing either would leave cpu/gpu for the swap

Quick question: Is the PIP hotkeys bound only to swapping PIP, or can they be whitelisted so they go through to the clients? My reason for asking, it'd be nice if you hit your PIP key and one character's window got pulled to the main, but also it sent the key to all the windows that you've bound to a macro to set that character as their focus targets...

|------------|------------|-----------------------|
|2...........|4..........|1......................|
|............|............|....................... |
|------------|------------|.......................|
|3...........|5..........|.......................|
|............|............|....................... |
|------------|------------|-----------------------|
And bind Ctrl-1 through Ctrl-5 for them. Then I could make decisions on the fly, just look over "Oh, 3 is still up, bam, 3 is main and all have him as focus with one keystroke"

yes.. the key is passed through. so, if you have your macros in place you could trigger the leader swap if you want.
i would warn you NOT to do this, as many times you would want to do something on your clone without changing your main

You're right about the drawback, but honestly, pretty much everything I'd want to do on my clone without changing my main would be OOC, when it doesn't matter if I change my main. Having that one button main swap sounds like a very tantalizing idea.
Another thought: If you set the PiP hotkey for a window to Ctrl-1, and then hit Alt-Ctrl-1, will that trigger the switch? That way you could have one keypress to swap PiP, and hold alt while you press the same one to trigger the switch AND change main. (I'm just full of dumb ideas!)

Forgot to reply back... If you bind your PIP and macros to the same hotkey it = easy mode... but we already know that because of the other posts.

ooo this will be super handy for spells that require mouse targeting!.... rain of fire for example :) looking forward to seeing how fast my comp can re-render the switch
you. sir. rock.

fyi.. the PiP switch triggers only on the KEYUP event. you will have to release the key in order for it to trigger.

tested it last night in ashenvale, had Astrid :) pally, 24 mage, 38 Priest and the mage AoE grinding ungrouped - no probs switching at all. Very nice Keyclone  cant wait to get this mage up to 38 with the rest of the team so I can finally use AoE blizz
I'm using v1.8e
I reset my maximizer window areas to have a pip hot key.
I chose to make the PiP hot keys:
................................| LALT+F6 for upper left toon | LALT+F7 for upper right toon |
LALT+F5 for main toon |................................................. ......................... |
................................| LALT+F8 for lower left toon | LALT+F9 for lower right toon |
I logged into each toon, and tried to test switching them with the keys at the loading screen and that didn't work, so I entered the game on each toon and tried to switch them with the hot keys and that didn't work.
What am I doing wrong?
Here's a shot of my set up. You will notice the upper right and lower right toons are hidden and can't be seen in the maximizer window grid. I'm going to be making another post about that on the maximizer thread.

your region name seems to start with a couple of spaces. are your wows showing up properly? do they maximize?
if not, that is probably due to the region name not matching exactly with the region specified in the command.
my advice... no spaces or caps in region names.
let me know if that helps.
I don't have any leading spaces in my region names. The example you see there has been altered to change the actual name used to post in the forum.

are your wows maximizing properly? no frames or titlebars?
as for when you can switch them... you don't have to be in-game to do it. it can be done at any time.
yes maximizer seems to be working fine, no frames or title bars. When I start them all up ( individually or as a string command), they position themselves just fine, main window on left monitor, four seamless tiled ones on the right monitor.

nice looking setup.
when you try to PiP... are you currently on one of the wows? one of the regions must have focus in order for PiP to function. being in a browser or with keyclone in the foreground, PiP will not function
Thanks! Can't wait to get pip working, it will save me from buying another monitor for the middle to use the two 24" vertically on the sides, those small windows make it so hard to see.
Here's what I'm doing.
I open KC, start up all the clients using the connect button for each individual client, pause KC, individually log into each of the five game sessions (since some of the pw keys are in the do not pass list), take off KC pause, set my focus on the main toons screen by clicking on it and moving to verify the focus, then alternately try to change by pressing the pip hotkeys defined in the maximizer set up as show, however when I press LALT+F5 through LALT+F9 and nothing changes places.
It appears to me as if its not recognizing the press of the LALT key? Any idea why? I just noticed that when I press LALT+F8 the far left bag on the action bar opens for all the toons, and when I press LALT+F9 the second bag from the left opens for all toons, and in party LALT+F5 changes mains target to the fifth party member, these keys are bound by the default interface, am I supposed to unbind LALT+F5 - LALT+F9 ? Note: I changed the pip for the main and first client on the top left to LCTRL+F5 and LCTRL+F6 respectively and that didn't work either. I unbound the F8 and F9 from each of the clients ( separate wow folders) and that didn't seem to work either.
What's the earliest point in this process that I can test pip, once maximizer loads them all to the login screen, or after I've logged in, or after I've entered the game on each client?

once maximizer has moved them into position, they can be swapped (be nice and wait for them all to be maximized..)

once maximizer has moved them into position, they can be swapped (be nice and wait for them all to be maximized..)I don't think that is the problem, I have tried to wait at each step, different times, different keystrokes, I don't know what the problem is...

try this...
copy the keyclone directory..
go into the copy and work there.
delete the keyclone.ini file
run keyclone in the new directory directly (run-as admin if vista)
only make 2 regions.. region0 and region1
attach pip hotkeys A and B
keep them on the main screen... do not move them to extended areas (this is only a test)
create 2 commands... wow1 and wow2
assign regions appropriately
hit ok
on the command area.. type : wow1;wow2
2 wows should appear. don't bother logging in, although type something in each so you can distinguish
click on region0 and hit B, this should swap with region1 and the username field should now be different
let me know what you find.
I did just as you said, and it works fine!
By pressing key A, I was able to swap the two instances of wow1 and wow2 back and forth to the main area.
Note: it worked with key A, it worked with LCTRL+F8 and LCTRL+F9, and it worked with Shift+F8 and Shift+F9, it just didn't work with LALT+F8 or LALT+F9. I went back to my main keyclone and tried it again there, and I used Shift+F5 and Shift+F6 and it worked. So, looks like problem solved. I'm not sure why that didn't work before, but it is now. I just can't use LALT+F5, etc.

I have a function request for the maximizer in keyclone, since I could not find this feature anywhere (figured this would be a good place to ask), though I don't know what the keymap function does, this request is about maximizer.
Would it be possible to name and save maximizer setups that can then be loaded from a drop-down list or something, since I would like to have more than one different window/PiP setup without having to make a different .ini file copy for each one.
I base this request on the fact that I run various setups, sometimes 5-box, sometimes 6, or 4 etc.
And as such I would like to have an easy way to change my window setup whenever I change the number of characters I'm playing at the time.
This mostly due to the fact that I run them all on one computer with one screen.
I'll post a pic of my 6-box setup later, since it fit perfectly on my 24" screen with perfect 4:3 ratio on all the windows. (with one large and 5 small, though I'm planning to try having 6 equally sized windows in one of my setups too)
Edit: discovered the option of profiles being in the to do section on the developers notes on the keyclone site, but I'll leave my post intact here in case I have made any points that were previously not mentioned. (also, maybe the profile could include more than just the maximizer settings, at the very least to also include the commands list perhaps. Since the basic idea of this request is already known, I guess you may have a better idea of what is necessary than me)
Sincerely,
Maxion, fresh new multi-boxer (multi-instancer is more correct term I guess).

For now I've just made some folders named as my intended profiles, and put copies of the keyclone.ini file with their respective settings in them, so when I want a different setup I just copy the desired configured ini to the main directory and run it, voila.
Hey my 3 clients on the left work fine. The resolution is where i want but my main box resolution is messed up somehow? The size is where its at setup via KC but when i load in im missing bar parts. Like i don't see the far right bars and only half my bags. On the left im missing a few buttons. Iv changed the res via Config file in the WTF also messed around with maximizer but that is clearly not the issue. Could it just be a weird set up? My moniter is 1280x1240 does it have to be an equal 1/3 of it? Right now my big box is 961,1024. Could this be it?
Edit. It can't be beucase when i switch the other copy's into there using PiP the bars work fine.

it probably has to do with in-game aspect ratios.
the next release, v1.8h, will help resolve the issue
When will that come out? This is kinda impairing my game play lol.

I'm on to 1.8g finally, yeah I'm a lazy bastard and basically tuesday maintenance is the only reason i pulled myself away from powerquesting for the 15 minutes it takes to upgrade and do some setup, lulz.
I redid my maximizer regions and assigned them all PiP hotkeys F8-F12(which yeah are the same as my focus shift ones etc etc)... PiP switch seems to work flawlessly, in fact it is near instant. Very happy with the performance there.
The one problem though is that upon PiP switch I have my windows taskbar pop up and stick around. Is this normal? Is there something simple I'm missing? A checkbox left on/off? Are F keys Vista shortcuts I need to disable or something?
Thoughts anyone?
EDIT - more details. All 5 client windows fullscreen and just stacked on top of eachother. If that matters.

there is a registry option that will keep your taskbar from popping up and blinking ... i posted it somewhere here...

found it here - New to 3 boxing -simple question ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=42533#post42533')

Hrm, that's XP.. does the fix work in Vista ya figure?
BTW, my savvy ends at a regedit... lol. tbh, a lil scared. Is this happening to everyone or just me using PiP?

OH - and also to add, my taskbar is not blinking, just popping up and getting in the way of the bottom of my screen. Obviously the selected client window is greyed out on the taskbar, but no orange blinking.
