My DK hit 85. I am thinking what I need to do to improve his gear. High end is 318 blues. Have not run a Cata Dungeon, am Blood spec. I was ok at takning normals in LK but mostly got booted from HCs. Max mining for toughness, working on Eng for cool toys ( is there a new flyer?) BG are ok, arena and world PvP I sux.

Blood DKs are for tanking. Not for BGs/World PvP :_)

Unholy is a lot of fun. I haven't really played frost since it was a tanking spec.

You might want to get all the 339 pvp gear at the AH or at least replace your green items. The pieces are about 150-300g each. Also do the Crucible of Carnage or whatever to get the 333 sword. Twilight Highlands gives you at least 3x or 4x 333 blue items, and some really good +str trinkets. Also, make sure you go to all the rep vendors and get whatever upgrades you can. I think Hyjal has an item or two, and Therazne or whatever (in deemholm) has 2 rings you can use and sholder enchants you can use. Within an hour or two of hitting 85 after I enchanted my gear and bought some PvP gear off the AH, I was doing 9k DPS on target dummies.

Also go Frost or Unholy spec for DPS/PvP

Grab a dps spec and quest through all the zones. This will do several things:

1. get you to revered with all the factions and give you access to the 333/346 gear
2. allow you to queue for reg/hc instances while questing (20-30 min queue time)
2.a. going as a dps will let you learn the fights for when you want to run them as a tank
3. get you the 333 quest rewards. I believe there are some in every zone
