View Full Version : Clones?
Hi Fellas, im new to all of this, so first of all, i love this forum =D
Ive been trying to set up my Tri-boxing team (3 mages and my girlfriend will be running a priest-mage combo aswell during the time)
Ive been having some issues setting up a Clone controlling program, a.k.a getting the boxes to do as i want.
Tried grabbing Keyclone, gave me some troubles, tried Octopus, cant find a guide how to set it up so i have no clue what to do with it, also i tried AutoHotkey, but this thing with all them scripts is making me confused.
I've searched around and stuff and I ended up here wondering if anyone could point me to something else to use which is easy to set up and simple to use?
I'm running 3 chars on 1 computer and all I want is for the 2 alts to follow my main and cast what the main casts. (for example i press button "2" and they cast button "2".
Awaiting Replies ^^

I haven't used Keyclone, but from what I've seen on the forums here, the author will go out of his way to help you.
I am using Hotkeynet which does what you ask and the author's website has a good set of instructions.
http://hotkeynet.com
it began good then it came up to the command stuff, how do i really make my alts do the same command? the author did a lousy job at explaining how I set it up.
Cant seem to get the other windows to copy what the first window does

Oh well. I'm sure I couldn't do better. Good luck!

From my own personal experience and from what I can tell from most of the other poster here, one of the greatest appeals of multi-boxing is the challenge of getting everything to work. I got supreme satisfaction from figuring out how to get all of my hardware and software to work together. I spent days and days setting up hotbars, keybindings, macros, and UI's. To me, it is a little bit like someone who is into train sets or building models. The pleasure doesn't come from buying a preassembled painted model. The pleasure comes from doing the work yourself which gives you a far greater sense of accomplishment.
If you're looking for a turn-key solution for multi-boxing, then you're going to be a little bit disappointed. With that being said, Keyclone is about as close as I think you're going to find to a turn-key solution. I am a system administrator and I have a reputation here where I work as "the problem solver," yet I still had a few head scratching moments setting up Keyclone. Most of it is fairly intuitive, but other parts of the Keyclone setup are not.

I think the reasons that some of those aspects of Keyclone are still in the "Scratching Head Phase" are as follows:
Keyclone (the Program) is a living organism on the fast track of evolution. Every time I turn around it has gained a bit more functionality. An in-depth, Step-By-Step instruction manual would have to reflect that. Keyclone (the creator of the program) is a one man band and he actually has a job and a life outside of Keyclone (the program). So the amount of time that he can spend on his baby is spent a) Squashing Bugs or b) Improving Functionality. Writing a lengthy dissertation outlining every aspect of the program is not on the TOP of his To-Do list. Personally I wouldn't have it any other way. I can puzzle stuff out with the best of them and I would rather have his talents working on things like BOOBS and other features that will be released in the future.
The above two reasons are why Keyclone doesn't have a comprehensive how-to written by Keyclone (the man). Here are a few reasons why we here at Dual-Boxing.com haven't written that instruction manual for him.
We have... several times. And posted it. Sure it's not absolutely complete but it's enough to get you started. But no matter how indepth anyone goes in writing this document, there is always someone who refuses to read it. That can get a bit discouraging. The reason it's not as indepth as it could be? I think my answer for that will be the same as others.... I got it working! Now I am going to PLAY WoW! Not sit down and write an epic poem about how to do it under every conceivable configuration.
I think once the Wiki gets fully up to speed we as a community can help Keyclone (da man) and fully document his wonderful program and all it's subtleties... yep, we can do that. Doesn't mean people will read it.
Thanks for the replies guys, after reading my posts 3-4 times now i noticed how ungrateful i sounded, like saying "the author did a lousy job at explaining...." and such, I didn't intend to sound like that at all 8|
Anywho, back to the topic.
I've fixed the issue of the keyclone, and fixed it, i searched more in depth and i found a post similar to my issue and i got it fixed.
Thanks once again
