View Full Version : Reaction of other players.

One of the more interesting parts of multiboxing for me has been observing the reaction of other players to my squad.

I play on a relatively new PvE server (trollbane), and as far as I know, I'm the only MBer there, so I was definitely expecting some attention when my 5 toons come cruising by. And there is definitely plenty of that. I grin a little each time when I pass somebody on a road, which I've done countless times before in my wow travels, but now they get past me, stop, turn and start to follow. Every time, I'm thinking in my mind "whoa, back that ass up!" :)

My favorites have been the "wtf?," "holy shit," "omg!" type of responses just because these people seem to be honestly perplexed by what they are witnessing. I have to say, almost everybody I've met so far has been positive, not a single botting/reported/whatever incident (/knocking_on_wood).

I also spend a lot more time doing things for people, like dancing, fan-outs, etc. It seems to really be fun for them and it's certainly not a difficult thing on my end.

However, the really interesting person that I wasn't expecting is the one who just seems to not care in the slightest. I'm not talking about those I meet in passing, I'm sure many of them are just preoccupied and don't notice. However, yesterday as an example (but no where near the only one), I was doing a quest involving killing a bunch of miners and there was another warrior there doing the quest at the same time. Now I was actually being nice and trying to share, but he had to notice that within 5 minutes of my arrival, I had mowed through 90% of the mobs in the area. He might have, but he didn't even skip a beat. I don't know if he was just too busy trying to kill stuff because he thought I would bleed the place dry, didn't notice me (I don't know how), or just didn't care, but you would think he'd at least stop and take a look. Nope, just on about his business as if nothing new was happening. It left me wondering what was going through his head at the time. It's neither here nor there really, and to be honest, I'm kind of a low-flyer anyway on the attention scale so I prefer it.

I've been actually having fun interacting with people, and I wasn't expecting that. I think I'm going to be a little more proactive and try to get people involved somehow, hoping that when/if this whole multiboxing issue comes to a head, maybe people will see it as a positive because of their experiences, rather than just view us as a group of elitists that they will just naturally want rail against.

Anyway, been a fun ride so far. Just dinged 20, and I'm glad, because the XP to this point has been slooooow.

So far I've only had good reactions but I'm still in the low level areas.
I try to be nice with people, help them when I can ( toss a buff or a heal, help kill a mob ...)
So far I've avoided crowded area (I moslty quest in draenei starting area) but will head over to westfall and meet the average player soon.

I'm new to multiboxing and I have my horde team on Mag but an alliance team on another server. I've never witnessed a 5 man mb group on my alliance server but I have seen a mb'er that plays 2.

I love seeing the reactions. It's kind of funny to baffle and shock people. I am starting to get constant whispers asking "How?" and "WTF!"... its cool!

The funniest moment I can recall is when a druid came up to me and said "wow, wtf is that!" and I smiled. He asked if we were all related and I replied "I hope so, considering I run them all". He then said "that's cool, they all fight together at once?" I said yes. He then prompted my main to duel and said "Cool let's see how you all do against me!".....

Sigh..... I think multiboxing is just too much for some people's brains to comprehend!

I do love the suprised reactions.

Just recently, my number two character got a tell "WTF, how are there three of you?" so I see it in my relay channel and respond from my main char. To which the guy responds, in all caps "WTF I WHISPERED SHOCKTWO AND YOU ANSWERED!"

Sounds like a bot.... either that or he genuinely doesn't care enough to react...

I got a "WTF" tell last night as I was cruising down the road.

I whispered back to the guy "??".

He says "You got a train following you."

I stopped. Shook my head at one of my droans and said "Lousy bums all decided to go on follow."

He laughed and rode away.

Well, that warrior just as easily could turn his camera once engaged and watch you, w/o ever turning around. Most of my reactions have been surprised or benevolent. One, said I said I was going to sell toons when they hit 70. Another thought that I must be selling them, like you couldn't do anything but sell them at 70??? Plenty of idiots. But I like seeing those surprised people, making them laugh. Amazing them with coordinated lightning shields. It's fun, before I was another hunter, war, rogue in town, now I'm 5 toons, tho one is a pally.
