zanthor... you pay for RDX? always wondered what advantage that would give me... anything you want to say about it?

sorry to hijack the thread, maybe start another with Wow ADDONS or something?

When RDX5 leaked a friend brought it to me asking me to check it for malware/etc. Rumors about the leaked copy were that it had code to do aweful nastyness to anyone not in the right guild etc.

It had nothing of the sort, it wasn't documented at all but the code was well commented and unlike any I had seen in any UI Mod to date... it was amazingly well written.

I dug into it and figured out how it functioned, and ended up maintaining it for several patches until RDX6 was announced and subsequently released...

For the average raider, RDX is overkill... however if you are trying to get the most out of your raids/raiders, RDX is an amazing tool which can help you accomlish this. For gathering data from your raiders real-time there is nothing else that comes close.

For multi-boxing there's pleanty of mods that do what RDX can do, the features I find most useful are mousebinds for my healers... I put the health bar on the edge of the screen closest to my main box, then I just have to mouse over hardly at all and I can heal effectively. Many other features as well, but really hard to explain unless you understand how flexible RDX is, it's not just a UI mod, it's a framework to create a completely custom UI.

So RDX is what.. a set of LUAs or something more executable?

It is pretty cool, allows a bunch of things.

However, it seems to be pretty limited to raiding, not to multiboxing, which was why I asked.

The update software appears to be an executable, but the rest is implemented like a normal addon set.

I looked at it and saw it to be great for raids but did not at first glance see anything that I could use with my 10 boxing setup.

It seems actually that a lot of the features are available in other packages.

This is very accurate. There are things it offers to multi-boxing however I would say you could find them all elsewhere.

One thing thats going to be very useful in the next major release is Venificus is adding the ability to bind hotkeys to unitframes...

So you can have a dispelgrid type display such as they are, but bind each unit to a keystroke from your XKeys.

I figure do the same thing with a healgrid and you can really simplify the management of healing/dispelling in a raid environment.

I basically do that now though with a "grid" of raid members.... so I just press the heal button. Not really sure that will help but I don't want to be too hasty.

I posted my UI in another thread - and I overlay the X-keys on it.

The large flexibility of it would come from being able to change the sorts quickly and easily to put who you want in the grid without redoing any macros or relying on /target party# macro's.
