HI All,

I saw a few posts referencing this Trinity 2.0 addon, but I was hoping a thread by itself would be a little more organized, and not get sidetracked.

The point where I am in this process, is my cookie cutter team ( 1 pali + 4 shamen) is now lvl 7 and they are starting to get their Action bars 1 filled up. So I thought it was time to get a bar addon, as so many people here are using, in order to be able to use the extra bar for macros. As I understand it, you put a macro in action bar 2 and then reference it by shif+2 or something ( I admit to not being real clear on how to do this) , but thought I would start exploring how to do it this weekend.

I saw many references to Trinity 2.0 being able to do many things in these threads here , so I downloaded it and installed it.

The first thing I noticed was, its not very intuitive ( for me ). I could not find any documentation on how to get started with it or set things up with it anywhere on the web using google searches. I found some download places with some screenshots, but that was it. I was able to see that I could move some of the standard things on the interface around, and resize them, but couldn't figure out how to make or use the extra bars?

So, I tried to just go play but when I opened my bags, they were under the bars on the right, and I couldn't move them to access contents in them. So I turned the mod off in the loading screen, however, after I did that, nothing would happen when I pressed my keys on my action bars.. so, I had to turn them back on lol.. If anyone that uses them could provide a little direction with how you set these up, or point me to some good documentation, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mac

I'm no longer playing WoW so I can't actually check any of this:

To make a wholly new bar:
Click on the minimap button, hit the top most popup icon and then right click on one of your (button) bars. There will be an option on the thing that then pops up to create a new bar (it always seems to start off with bar 8 ).

To remove a bar do the same thing with the right clicking it should now have an option to remove bar (if you only have one bar left or the bar is a non-button bar (eg Bag bar) you will only have an option to store the bar.

To set buttons type:

Assuming you have all the bars in the position you want them (you can do this first if you want) you can change the button type to one of several options. The option type allows buttons to do different things. I can't remember all the types, but they include normal buttons (like all the other button bars), macro buttons, slot buttons...

Normal Buttons use them like you use a normal button.

Macro Buttons: Once a button is turned into a macro button you can right click the button to edit a macro, this macro is not a standard game macro though it uses the same scripts, it is parsed differently and so may not work quite the way you'd expect.

Slot buttons: Actually can't remember how they work, but it was something like you can assign a slot (from the character paper doll) and click the button to activate what ever was in the slot (eg a trinket) if you change what was in the slot the button updates.

To change a button type you click on the minimap button till the five little buttons appear and click the button that sort of looks like a key board.

To assign keys to buttons you click the little green key icon (it'll turn red).

If you right click the minimap button you open up the menu, I would suggest turning on Tutorial Messages for the first hour or so, it adds useful comments to all the mouse overs so you can see what most things do.

Hope that helps, and is right... Not been to bed yet and haven't played WoW in over three weeks...

The first time you play WoW after you load Trinity, Trinity starts up in config mode. In config mode, you cannont press keys or click buttons and have them do anything. This is by design. There are tooltips if you mouse over the Trinity button on your minimap that explain how to turn on/off config mode. Also, if you hit escape to bring up the main options menu, you'll see a Trinity 2.0 button near the bottom of the menu. If you open up the Trinity options menu from here, you'll see that there is a knowledge base or faq style of help system.

Trinity has a lot of features and that makes it somewhat complicated to setup. Once you get the hang of how things work, I think you'll find that it is fairly well thought out. I'm at work now, so I can't open up Trinity to give you a step by step guide on how to create a new bar. There is a create button on one of the config screens. This is how you make a new bar. Trinity refers to them as docks. The screenshots of Trinity at www.wowinterface.com shows the config screens.
