View Full Version : keyclone not working??

Firstly: Hi, just been lurking until now :)

I have been using Keyclone for a few weeks now, and loving it, but it seems to be not working all of a sudden.

I'm using 2 PC's for 2 toons. I noticed my slave toon wasn't helping in combat, then realised none of the key presses were transmitting to second PC. This has happened before, so I just closed both clients and keyclones, then restarted.

Then I noticed MOTD for new version. I loaded anyway, and still slave wasn't responding. So I closed, then downloaded new version.

Updated, and seemed like all settings have been retained, started both up again, but still no transmitting from either client to the other???

What has happened??

This is very frustrating, as I'm only a short time from level 40 on both toons.

May I suggest deleting your Keyclone.ini file, start fresh.

Sometimes starting over works. You never know. So I suggest back it up, delete it, try it again.

I'm afraid that didn't help.

I thought it had worked at one stage, when I was typing my password, it was transmitting to the slave, but after that it stopped.

This is driving me crazy!!!!

Why would it just stop working?

Edit: and what are the 2 new buttons (dnp & rr) ?

okay then.............

I don't understand why or what, but it's working again now...??

Please disregard this thread.

Great program!! I am enjoying it

the dnp and rr buttons are overrides for do-not-pass and round-robin. by pushing them, your do-not-pass and/or your round-robin list is suspended.

useful for when you are entering a password, for example

you can find a hotkey for each on the override settings panel (keyclone/setup/override settings)

Alright, it's doing it again!!

No settings changed at all.

I don't know why, but keys stopped going to both clients again.

I shutdown and restarted both PC's but still not broadcasting to both. However, mut works accross both??

Anyone else having this happen?

i have noticed the override overlay has put a strain on the cpu... which, in turn, could be starving the keyclone for cpu time.. at which point it would drop connection.

try UNCHECK keyclone/setup/override settings/overlay reminder

i am currently working on a replacement for the overlay that will have minimal cpu/gpu impact.
look for an update tonight

I will try what you suggest.

But this also happened before the last update as well?

Still not working, and I was thinking anyway, it wouldn't work, as restarting both PC's had no effect.

What is strange is the client only shows the IP of the other PC. It doesn't show World of Warcraft for the other PC

This must be happening to someone else. I changed no settings. It was working fine, then it just stopped. Please help?

This has been happening to me too.

The other night I was having issues where they KC's on both computers would not communicate to the other computer but worked fine on multiple wows on the same computer. On my main computer no sound would happen when I press Pause (to mute KC) while on the other computer sound was just fine when I pressed Pause on that computer.

The next morning I shutdown keyclone and cut & paste my keyclone.ini file out of the folder it was in so I could save it. Now KC was making sound on my main when I pressed Pause. Still would not make a connection with my second pc. Stopped KC, cut & pasted the keyclone.ini file on the second pc to save it as well and started KC again. Both KC's worked fine with each other.

Since then though I've been having issues where it seems to stop communicating with each other, usually I notice it when pausing because then the MUTE does not show up on second computer. To fix it I only have to shut down KC on the second computer then bring up task manager and kill the orphaned keyclone left behind. It also leaves a system tray icon that cannot be interacted with. After killing keyclone from Task Manager I am able to start up keyclone on the second computer and re-connect from my main computer and it works again for a while.

I'm running 2 smaller wows on the second computer and it's a sad 3400 Sempron single core with only 1GB of memory. It has a halfway decent AGP card though.

Well I don't know what's going on with it?
I uninstalled it on both machines again and reinstalled. I did not save the ini file, but just started from scratch on each.
Now it's working again.
I just don't understand why it stops working when I have made no changes to it?
I hope I don't have to keep reinstalling it every few days.

It's a brilliant program, but it's frustrating me a little.
I get a bit crapped off if I can't work my duo when I have time to play. I think I've become a little addicted to this style of play

here's a thought...

update to v1.8d and see if there is still a problem.

i have it running, with override overlay reminder UNCHECKED, without a problem.

also, remember to run-as administrator if you are on vista.

after that, please check your network

The screenie was taken before I updated yes, but the updated version gave the same result so I posted that one anyway.

My main issue is: It just stops working when I have made no changes to the settings? I mean, it actually stops working when I've been logged in and playing fine, then all of a sudden broadcasting stops?

As I said in my last post, I deleted all the last install and installed fresh on both PC's and it's working again, but how long before it stops working again? I hope it doesn't, but this has happened twice in a week now, without me doing anything to pre-empt it.

I sttill think it's an awesome program, I just want it to work without having to uninstall and reinstall it.

Vista can blow me!

btw...havent been able to play on my off hours due to the above mentioned problems with keyclone.

I have the updated version...was playing with all toons last night..no problems...tried to log on and could not get the 2 toons on the other machine to interact with the main computer.

I get the exact same thing mentioned in the screen shot. 1 PC shows 3 accts up and then ping to the other pc but no WOW accts to show. The other PC shows 2 accts up and the ping to the other PC but no WOW accts for that other PC.

Dont know what to say...but keyclone isnt working across the internet even though they are side by side. btw...its a wireless setup. Most likely wouldnt show this problem if I had an ethernet connection thru a router. I have no choice in my ISP atm due to being in a motel room. But Keyclone works on each of the PCs individually but will not talk to each other across the net even though they both show pinging each other.

...help...?....plz...must...have....game.......... ....must..ha......v......e....(blip)!

cAN NOT believe it...had the 3 up and running and was tinkering with the other laptop...and FINALLY!! got the keyclone program to show 3 WOWs from the other PC...all I did was stop a program with TASK MANAGER. Then launched the keyclone...and VOILA!...they worked?...go figure. Has to be a bug there preventing them to talk to each other. I did nothing else but stop a .exe that was hung up.

here's a thought...

please check your network

Network is fine! IP's have not changed, Synergy still works flawlessly as does any other function of the network.

basically... you are going across a motel network, wirelessly... with some form of exe stuck/hung that, when terminated, stops blocking keyclone from running.

hmmm....

so, you are asking me to modify keyclone to search out and terminate any applications that are keeping it from its function.

i'm pretty sure this is were skynet started...

Sun might be running his setup on a wireless setup, I however am not.

I will download and install your latest version tonight when I get home, though now since my last reinstall, I am not having any problems.

well....no idea what to say or do.

I can not play under these circumstances. Past 2 days...and I do mean JUST the past 2 days, I can not play because keyclone will not recognize each other as stated in the above OP. Nothing personal KEYCLONE but I did mention I have had problems on the last 3 upgrades and never before that. Now I cant even play the game in multi box. As soon as I can get my reimbusements(personal) for the past 2 months(pretty good chuckachange), I will most likely go the FULL hardware route. I have tried everything..even going and clearing hung keyclone.exe and still cant get them to see each other.

MOST likely this will all go away once I get away from the GAWD AWFUL CHEAP FRIGGIN WIRELESS CRAP ROUTER PACKET DROPPING MOTEL ROOM!!!!

i spent the last year on the road living in a la quinta (quality... not!)
and yes.. their networks suck ass. 400 rooms, 200 rooms were for college kids, 300 to 400 kids just pounding myspace
solid... a 1Mbit line for 400+ people... 2.5Kbps avg.. nice

my solution? verizon wireless. no more wrestling for bandwidth. it just worked.
of course, if you want to connect multiple machines together, then you would need a box with dual nic cards.. one for lan, the other for your verizon wireless. and on the lan, use a hub, connect the other machine to it... and then use the first machine as a gateway

or... you could just get home :) that was my final solution...

I tried the Phone Wireless route. Several times. The problem with that is...most places are still on 2G hardware even though they are saying its 3G service. Verizon was behind if I remember right on upgrading most of the cities. ATT is the leader in this, believe it or not, and they dont have all the cities yet as well. Only the very large metropolis really have 3G. Supposedly they will go 4 or 5G before they ever get 3G working up to specs. I am really disappointed with any of the phone companies here in the U.S. We are so far behind the rest of the world in wireless service in relation to the internet and consumer useage. Thanks for the advice but I have tried the full wireless route and had nothing but problems with speed. If your not in the 3G zone then you will get 2G service. And that sucks. BTW 2g is the reason alot of the new comm companies died in the 80s n 90s. No one wanted dialup service on their wireless(which was really slower than dialup) for a connection speed. Another thought just remembered, the problem with wireless are the antennaes they use at times to get to the internet. If they are still using 2G hardware, then guess what. You just jumped from 3G to 2G which can be as high as 250ms in packet transmission per antennae. This will add up if your tryin to get a good ping. I have even talked to the Techies on this and nothing can be done about it.

I personally think that the government should hold these companies acountable for sloppy service and false advertisement. Anyways, at 4am this morning, I tried to connect with keyclone and its still not seeing each other.

i use to use Hawking's high gain antenna... it helps a little... but not that much.

as for connecting 2 keyclones across a wireless motel network.. not much i can do there, sorry. i'd say you are lucky it ever worked. try setting up a web server on one of your machines and try to hit it from the other. see if that works at all. if not, then the motel has changed their setup and isn't routing data between peers in house.

one solution could be to use a local hub and one of the machines as a gateway to the network.

the other would be a udp proxy, but keyclone doesn't currently support such a setup

Don't worry, Cameron isn't programmed to kill you.
not yet anyways... betrayal is a favored son in hollywood.

although they have left the door open for her to learn to 'grow' as an AI and become less violent.. potentially evolving the terminators into 'enlightened' machines that would join hands with humans and sign kumbiya...

but cameron == 1 hot terminator
