a new version of keyclone has been released, v1.8c
here are the latest updates
--
o added: tooltray FAQ submenus
o bug: fixed off-by-one error with maximizer regions (caused decreased fps in full screen)
o functionality: commands without a region will not be maximized
o PiP
o added: send only per keyclone
o global reset/suspend for blacklist/whitelist, round-robin
o round robin / do-not-pass list suspend toggle
o global pause (works across all connected keyclones)
o bug: improved error messages during network authentication
o bug: always-on-top fixed for startup
o adjustment: modified networking code to improve packet passing
o change motd to use html viewer
o bug: motd now works with a proxy
to work with PiP, go to the maximizer setup, click on a region, click on the PiP hotkey area... hit a hotkey for that region... repeat for all regions.
hit OK.
run your wows
while you are in 1 wow (your main)... and let's say he dies.. you need to drive with one of your alts...
hit the PiP hotkey for that region and the 2 regions should swap
keep in mind, if the aspect ratios of the 2 regions are different, you will see it since wow did not have a chance to reload
if there are any bugs, please feel free to drop me a PM and i'll do what i can asap

Just when I had finally given up on Vista and decided to go back and spend the time configuring my box to run 5 on XP and see if it had the horsepower to do that smoothly... I can't wait to set this up!
Thanks man!
o added: send only per keyclone

o global reset/suspend for blacklist/whitelist, round-robin
o round robin / do-not-pass list suspend togglehaha, I was just coming to this forum to put in a request for these two features. wtg!
Thanks for doing all this work and explaining the pip, I think I understand what your trying to do there now.
I know how much you guys hate spoonfeeding newbs so just ignore my request if you think its a bother. I'm not saying the developer should do this, anyone who knows could comment in the thread, but when I see features added with no description of what the problem was in the first place, or what the new feature will do for me ie. some example, then I don't understand why the developer spent his valuable time doing this for us in the first place or what the benefit to me the customer is.
My concern is, I will be missing out on understanding how to use something to solve a problem I haven't encountered yet or didn't know I had or how I could take advantage of to keep from having the problem. As a newbie, I'm still trying to figure all this stuff out, I don't have the benefit of the experience you old salts have yet, but I am making an effort to catch up by reading everything and testing myself. It would just save me, and possibly others some time so we could be using that saved time for playing.
I can imagine myself coming across some issue in the future and asking a question about how to solve it in the forums ( ofc only AFTER I had used the search feature extensively), only to be told, "oh, that feature was added in version 1.<whatever>, you just need to do blah blah blah to fix it" when I might not have asked the question if there was a little more explanation about what the new features would do for us or what problem it was solving in the release note posts. But as I said, if thats too much trouble, and you all think "you noob you should know that" then don't bother and ignore me, I'll work it out eventually.
For example, I don't know what to make of these changes, maybe someone can explain:
o functionality: commands without a region will not be maximized
o added: send only per keyclone
o global reset/suspend for blacklist/whitelist, round-robin
o round robin / do-not-pass list suspend toggle
Cheers

I've setup PiP with 5 instances and tested it - working exactly how I'd hope with one exceptoin...
PIP1 is 1680x1050, PIP2-4 are half that size and layered with the idea of keeping them behind the main window, I don't need to see them most the time, and can hotkey to them as desired...
I setup F1-F4 for the 4 PIP regions behind the main one,
Aazan - PIP1
Bazan - PIP2
Cazan - PIP3
Gnusmas - PIP4
Kitarra - PIP5
I press CTRL-F2 expecing Bazan to take over PIP1 and Aazan to go to PIP2, this happens, however PIP2 retains focus when what I'd expect and desire is PIP1 to get focus back.
This behavior is on Vista 32 using only 1 monitor.

Rob great job man i am only dual boxing but the addition of the PiP swapping is awesome.
I usually run my mains screen big and the alt smaller, even tho my whispers are routed to main etc ,its nice to be able to switch on the fly if my main dies or just to read, look at something, mess with bank etc on the alt and be able to see what I'm doing lol.
Keep up the great work man and hopefully when i get another system going i can puchase your wonderful program for a second time :D

MacI'm new to keyclone myself, so we can newb it up together! ;)
Part of the third one is the ability to reset round-robin. If you don't know what that (round-robin) is, it means that each time you press a key it will go to a different client, in sequence, until the last client and the restart at the first. You can see how this would be useful with say a mage's frost nova. You'd rather have 5 novas spread out than hitting the button once and casting 5 novas, thereby wasting 4 of them. The state of this round-robin is kept pretty much indefinitely, so this new feature allows you to reset it back to the first client and start over.
An example where this would be useful: I use round-robin on earth bind totem so I can basically lock down followers forever. However, after I'm done casting N EB totems (I've escaped), I'd like to reset the order so the next time I cast one (next time I'm in trouble), it will start with my main toon again. Reason for this is that my main toon is out in front when I'm running away, so if my main toon has the agro and a trailing toon casts the totem, it probably won't hit them at all. Now having said that, I haven't yet been able to find this in the keyclone setup, but I probably just missed it. :)
"o round robin / do-not-pass list suspend toggle" I did find (it's under override settings) and love. The do not pass list is groups of keys that will not get sent to any of the "clone" clients. For example, you probably don't want your movement keys to pass, otherwise all the clones will wall all over the place. The problem is, if I want to do something like send a /w from all my clients at once, or /gu, or /dance, it will not pass those because they are in the DNP list. So /dance is fine on my main toon, but the clones it comes out as /nce (because A and D are DNP). Now, with a key, I can disable it when I'm pestering my friends  and then put it back again right after for playing.
Anyway, those are the ones I figured out. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the update, still best $20 I ever spent. :)
With this new version I'm still seeing a weird bug where connecting two Keyclone clients across my network will sometimes (not always) break Synergy. Synergy *thinks* it's still working (the tray icons still show proper connected status) but I can no longer move my mouse out of my main window. I have to right click on Synergy's icon and select "Force Reconnect" to get things working again.
Not a huge problem since the workaround is easy enough ... but would be nice if these two apps played together nicely more often :)

hi buzz,
make sure you have 'pass mouse clicks' turned off. (it can sometimes mess stuff up)
as for synergy, i'll see what i can do about that...

Hey there,
Just went back from holiday where I decided to buy a keyclone account.
I'm just surprised to see the fee at 20$ and not 10$ anymore, which is like twice the price...
I haven't seen any information about this. This starts to be a bit expensive I guess, and I'm wondering why such an increase?
Gonna go for AHK for a while then.

@Jurimax
please drop me a PM with your email address and system-id and i'll get you up and running in no time.
@Boutchou
well, to be honest, i have been told by quite a lot of people how it was too cheap @ $10.. and after realizing that my game time has been swapped for helping people get started and answering questions, $20 seems like a better price.
besides, it's a one time cost. and you get all updates for free... and access to the developer to get your changes implemented. how many software packages do you have that kind of service?

Greetings,
I second that : USD 10 was quite cheap, almost obscene.
USD 20 is still very decent and worth every penny. (and like EUR 15 for us europeans).
Don't forget : we are talking about a custom-made applet for a highly dedicated community spending up to USD 75 a month just on subs, not to mention hardware costs for running those 5 clients.
So USD 20 one-time license is a hell of a deal, especially with Keyclone's impressive after-sales service both in forums and through MPs.
You can actually talk to the guy developping the applet and get immediate help, that's worth a lot.
That's what I tell my WoW friends investigating about multi-boxing : if you want to start multi-boxing and can't deal with a USD 20 applet downpayment, then you are DEFFO not ready for multi-boxing cause that's the cheapest component once you get into it
Try it and you'll get hooked : there's no way to turn back away from Keyclone's applet and level of service.
And if the guy was on the market for a programming job, he'd be hired within minutes.

Not sure if this is a bug or a config error on my part. Running 1.8c and trying the new PIP feature. I run dual screens in horiz mode and have 3 instances of wow running. On my main screen I run whichever toon is my main at 1280x1024, and on my second screen I run 2 instances at 800x600 (they overlap a bit, but it keeps it so I can read the screen if need be).
The problem is that when I use PIP and swap to either of the other 2 screens and back, the main screen resolution grows a few pixels so I lose a little off the bottom of the main screen and it stretches to my second screen a hair. Swapping screens multiple times makes it worse, as it grows a few pixels every time. Going into keyclone setup on the maximizer section and clicking apply fixes the screen until I swap screens again repeating the problem.
Any ideas?

oh yeah, I just noticed the growth thing happening, wasn't sure where it came from (was playing 2 accounts/2monitors)

After using the new version for a few days now I'm noticing quite a number of disconnects that require that I kill keyclone on both PC's and restart them to fix it. When I disconnect in this way and simply press the "connect" button on my main PC, it connects to my other PC but doesn't sync up the WoW windows so no keys get passed properly.
There doesn't seem to be any common condition that causes the disconnect and it doesn't become obvious that the connection has died until after I try to do something with my clones and notice it doesn't happen (ie "heal me you stupid shammy, I'm dying over here!!!! ... oh, keyclone died :( ")
Maybe a feature request (beyond the bug getting fixed) would be for a more robust alert system for when keyclone loses connection to WoW windows.

disconnects? ok... that's new.
i got my internet working again, so i'll be back at it tonight. this sounds like a very high priority bug and i'll be on it when i get home from work tonight. could it be related to the overlay override reminder eating cpu? and by disconnect, do you mean from other keyclones or just your wow windows on a single box?

I'm getting this as well, even if I shrink the region on monitor 1, it still always has 1 vertical line of pixels on the second screen

The disconnects are between the two keyclone clients running on PC1 and PC2. When it happens, PC2 (which runs 2 or 3 WoW clients depending on if I'm boosting XP) still shows all the proper local WoW windows, but does not show the network connection. Also if I move my mouse to that machine (via synergy), I can press a single key and still have it sent to all the local WoW windows.
When I reconnect on my main PC (which runs 1 client of WoW and 1 client of keyclone), the keyclone UI shows the two are connected (both client's UI show this) but no keys are passed. Soon after (30 seconds or so), the UI updates and shows the two clients are no longer connected.
It also seems like just shutting down one keyclone client and restarting doesn't fix the problem. I have to shut down both clients and the client on PC2 (which is a Vista box) often doesn't close nicely and Vista starts complaining about how it's not responding and I kill it manually via task manager.
I do use the mute button alot (I mute when I chat just to avoid random windows from popping up on my clone clients) so maybe it has something to do with the override overlay, I dunno. :)
Let me know if there is anything specific I can test for or any logs/debug info I can grab when this happens ... it's pretty much a consistant nightly occurance for me at this point, last night it happened 3 times in as many hours.

Started doing some searching and found this. Thanks!!!
