I know there are people out there with 5 machines, and I was wondering if anyone has tried multiboxing 6 toons (for a full pt) in FFXI?
i played YEARS ago, and its a FANTASTIC PvE game, very challenging, good use of graphics etc, but the grind to 75 was SO boring.. has anyone ever tried this?
I would play it again if I didnt spend 17949 hours of my day alone in Jeuno shouting for a PT lol
WoW is still better, but im curious hehe

I had a level 75 black mage, can definately understand the sentiment. Lfg is painful in that game. One thing to remember though - You'll probably need 6 accounts for FFXI. Full party in that game is 6, not 5.

yes i understand, thats why i mentioned that you would need 6 accounts and 6 computers.. does it work though?

yes i understand, thats why i mentioned that you would need 6 accounts and 6 computers.. does it work though?Honestly it should be easier to get it to work than WoW, since there's no spyware (Warden) implemented for FFXI, and especially no rootkit like Gameguard. That being said, there's no well-defined documentation like there is for WoW that shows Square-Enix's stance on multiboxing. Who knows what they'd say about it, although I'd expect they wouldn't care. From my experience, you're probably right to expect to use 6 computers. FFXI was not ported very well, so it's rough on your computer. I wouldn't expect to see even the best computers running 6 copies of that client. :P

I used to at "max" 4 box in FFXI and I only did it at HNM. Like the last poster said tho the port is very bad and FFXI is an incredibly cpu-intensive game, even one client is liable to max your cpu usage to 100%. My only recommendation is to stay low on resolution for all of your clients, and to also run them all on different machines as SE is *very* picky about 3rd party tool usage of *any* kind.

I triple boxed FFXI about 8 months ago, and it was a blast. Only reason I stopped was because of friends pulling me back to WoW.
The huge benefit about FFXI is you can actually multi-box melee classes effectively since they will run and stick onto an enemy.
I used all seperate PC's for each character but being able to make groups of the fly with yourself and just invite whoever makes the entire game soooooo much better! So many people cling onto you just for the fact you are your own self group which is a huge requirement in that game. I had a bunch of players on the game who would not level a certain job until they saw me online and wanted to join :P
Basically FFXI is awesome, and I still miss it.

I miss FFXI in a lot of ways, and the only thing I hated about it was the LFG wait time, it was ridiculous. I just wish that you could easily multibox 4 accounts on the same computer, id go back in a second if I could do that..
PLD/WAR
SMN/WHM
THF/SAM
BLM/WHM
mmm good times. and no respec costs!! and easy transition from job to job.
PvP was horrible though.. thats the real draw of WoW.

FFXI was a great PVE game, so many memories.
Honestly, I'm surprised more games haven't taken a few lessons from FFXI. I mean, I know it was nothing but a huge grind, and just like everyone else the lfg wait times were terrible, but some of the combat abilities in that game were fantastic. Skill chains, magic bursts, etc. It really rewarded you for working well together and being coordinated.
In WoW the only real advantage to that is focus firing and such, otherwise for most of the pve you don't really need to be all that coordinated.

this is a big thing btw. I too have an FFXI account (75ninja on shiva) but havent played in a while, the draw to WoW is too big and all my buds in FF jumped to WoW again lol.
I do miss FFXI, was thinking about it the other day in fact. Id be more drawn to it if LFG wasnt like waiting for bug fixes in WoW (ie painful and endless). multiboxing that game would be fun IMO but there wouldnt be a lot you could do other than grind since most 'good' gear is on the AH as opposed to in an instance (with the excheption of camping NMs which is a very good way to get reporterd for "botting") So Im not sure what major advantage you would get out of it other than removing the LFg bs. Which would be awsome but I just dont see anywhere to go after that. So max merits on 6 characters woot...now what? 6 isnt enough for HNM, I suppose you could do the ZM/CoP mission chains which would be intense to MB lol but after that you dont have much to do with yourself other than to sneak them into dynamis or w/e. I would also be concerned about getting banned there, SE has always been way more strong-armed than blizzard and no desire for understanding. Getting a lvl 70 in wow banned or temp banned isnt anything. but to have a 75 banned from FFXI would probably make me cancel/uninstall on the spot just at the time wasted for that. Man we need to have 48 hour days so I have time to play FFXI and WoW lol...

So I've been six boxing my toons with three computers. I'm running two instances of ffxi on each comp utilizing windower. Yeah I break EULA. I'm thinking about adding one more toon to my lineup for pl'ing. I have a 75brd and 62blm initially that I used to dual box, and just added on the other four. They're lvl 20blms! Just got my choco license!
I use control 1-6 on all my mage jobs to cure specific pt members, and then alt-1 for /assist-/attack and alt-2 for /follow main. It's really spiffy! Imagine doing avatar fights with six characters -- 360k/day! This also gives me a chance to farm Mage's Ballad II and Warp. With six accounts, I can make a pt of six similar raced chars with ease! 50k per scroll = 300k if I decide to not level brd. 30k per warp scroll is a tidy sum <3.
The biggest issue is fame x4... I never want to see another yagudo necklace. over 800 necklaces turned in and now I can do Leviathan...

i guess for me one big difference between wow and ffxi is that in ffxi the trade skiklls actually benefit you :-) in wow they have started adding better food but apart from these three alchemy, enchanting and jewelcrafting that help a players stats ther rest can be replaced with instance drops the mechanics in ffxi for crafting are also more interesting. oh yeah and decorating my house for better stats also. It would be nce to box ffxi but now i have to much time and money invested in wow.

Dude, Teflon..... /drool. I wish i new about multiboxing back when i was on ffxi. I really want to try and multibox FFXIV when it comes out. I just want to try out 3 toons on one machine for starters (if possible). My question to you is, how would SE find out if you're breaking EULA-ToS?
