Hey all I've been impressed by multi boxing for a while now and today and usually thought "nah, it will cost too much" but today I've decided I want to start doing it :P

Basically, I want to dual-box on one PC, I can easily handle 2 WoW instances at the same time and was wondering where do I start? I've read some of the stickies but I think it'd be easier if somebody answered a few questions or linked me to what I need to see :)

1) Should I just have one full screen instance running or is there a program to split the screen in 2 so I can see both at once?

2) I'm thinking I'll just try it out first, using 2 trial accounts and firstly understand how to macro my stuff up and use the programs before I go buying another account. What programs do I need to use?

3) I think the shaman videos are pretty cool but I might go with something else (mage perhaps) is there any real reason NOT to dual box with certain classes?

I can't quite think of any questions off the top of my head right now so thanks in advance :)

-Banksy.

hey there, and welcome.

Let's do this the quick and painless way shall we :)

Firstly buy Keyclone software then read the following for each of your questions

1. HOWTo - Set up Keyclones Maximizer (Updated v1.7s v1.7r) ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=2322')
2. be aware that trial accounts cant start groups so it will be hard to work on your macros as such...doable but no perfect
3. Mulitboxing Class Selection FAQ ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=2399')

Beginners Guide 2 Dual-Boxing (3,4,5 boxing) ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=3339') is also a very good resource for getting started it seems (haven't read it all, was done after I started but looks good from what I checked out)

Also, does anybody dual box with a split screen(2) ? I was thinking fullscreen would be better but what are other peoples opinions

Only you can decide if it works for you....give both ways a try and use what feels best

As for borrowing a friends account, just say no....not good karma for either of you in the long term

If you already have a wow account then you will be fine using a trial as the 2nd... you can join groups as a trial, you just can't join them... also looting might be a pain as you can't trade as a trial account.

Split screen is definately the way to go if you don't have multiple monitors. Full screen, you won't be able to see what happens to your clone... agro etc.

also there are some issues where a minimized instance drops connections.

Maximiser, Keyclone and Octopus all allow managed WOW to run in designated regions of your screen.

For the best way to put 2 wow instaces on the same screen try turning your screen by 90deg if you monitor and grphics card can.
See the picture in this post.
How many WoW instances can this box pull? ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=35775#post35775')

Update on my epic quest on dualboxing madness:

Decided to download Octopus, but now I have not one single idea of what to do now, I've checked out the Octopus 1.1.1 guide and It didn't really help me as I'm new to this and need to be pretty much spoonfed the steps on how to set this badboy up :P
