Hey all, I just started 3 boxing w my rogue / priest / lock. Sometimes I mix it up and switch in my pally for rogue and my druid / shaman for priest. So far its been fun but its also been pretty complicated. I haven't found a set up yet that I like for the first class set up I mentioned with macros and the like. I've read through a lot of the posts here on addons and macros but they all seem to be geared towards those boxing the same class. I'm wondering if there is anyone out there that boxes with a variety of classes that could give me some advice on how to go about it. I've been looking into keymaps via keyclone to help with the boxing but I'm having a hard time understanding it. So far I just have a few macros set up such as follow leader / assist / and attack (shadowbolt and holy fire) so when I'm pressing 2 with my rogue (sinister strike) the others begin casting. This is only possible w keyclone so that when I press 2 for the atk macro it broadcasts the attack macro on the #2 slot for the alts (is there an easier way of doing this?).

Anyway, I can see where problems might arise in that if I try to do an instance how do I keep my alts further away if I charge in with my melee char (some mobs have AE spells for instance). I unbound the arrow keys on my alts so that when I use them to direct the movements of my main they dont do the same thing when keyclone is on but I feel like this is a bad way of going about it. My other question is how do people do small things like accept quests? I have the script button on my macro but do I have to set it so that when I right click a quest giver my alts will too or do you guys usually get a quest and just share it and use the macro to accept them all at once? I'm worried that if I set it so that when I right click anything with keyclone across my chars everyone will attack a mob or something which won't make it worth it to set up just to get quests.

I prob sound like a total noob (cause I am) but if someone has some suggestions I'd really appreciate it. I'm not very savy with this stuff so if there is someone out there who boxes w a bunch of different classes and doesn't mind laying out their macros / keymaps and how they go about boxing I'd really, really, appreciate it. Thanks

I'm a fairly new 5 boxer. I've been dual boxing for a long time though but after stumbling on this site about a month ago I've gotten hooked.

Theres a bunch of posts about actual macro's so I won't comment on them but I will tell you how I set up my macros. Your milage may vary.]

My team consists of :

Druid(feral/tank 70)

Warlock (demo 70)

Shammy (resto 64)

Mage (fire 60)

Hunter (BM 58 )

I used excel (simple pencil and paper would work too) to make a chart. One the left side I listed my toons. Across the top I listed all the keys that I would be using. Then I simply filled in the chart while trying to think about what button presses go together. Sometimes they are natural fits others were personal preferance. For example, I've made a macro to tap mana on my lock in the F6 slot. On my Shammy the F6 key targets the lock and throws a lesser healing wave at him.

For basic grinding, I have macros mapped to correspond to #1 which is my lacerate button. The mage, lock, and hunter all cycle thru their varous dps abilities while I spam lacerate to maintain agro. Usually I have the team on follow but if I want to stop the follow I hit the straif(sp) key once to break follow.

Wow, I have no clue why i never thought about makin a list of all the keys I want to use for ablities. Seems so obvious. I actually made a list of all the abilities I wanted to use with each character, but i never made a list of all the keys I want to press.

I was thinking about this today too. Eventually swapping out different characters, currently 5box shammies. The problem you'll run into is the short vs long cast times. Devastate, for ex. is instant, lightning bolt 1.5 sec. I would probably devastate and lightning bold with the same cmd. Since the sound is off, I won't hear the sound that warns about already casting/other action taking place sound.. There may be more graceful or technical ways, but I'm not at that stage, and will learn as I go. I think 5 or 3 or 2 of the same class is the way to begin boxing, then evolve to other/better group makeups. Or merely, instead of better, ones you need at that time.

There are a lot of ppl on here that box 5 different classes even, and do quite well. I'd suggest finding who they are from the Who... Where... thread then do an advanced search for their posts and dig for stuff they've probably already brought up and worked through.

You're definitely jumping in the deep end but it sounds like you'd already built up these toons and are now just trying to figure out how to play them together which makes sense. Personally I've somewhat abandoned by warrior/priest/warlock that are 70 and started over with 4sham+pally.
