Hey everyone

So I have a four-some. A pally(tank), priest, mage, and lock. I got them all to 15 and 16 and decided to take a wack at Ragefire Chasm. I was rocking the place until I got to the troggs. The problem that I was having was the 3 guys ganging up on the tank. Killing him and then killing all the casters. Generally my strat is to cast all my dots(with a seal of crusader then judgement) then bolt the mobs to death while my tank keeps the aggro. Against elites this was basically too slow to keep up with the damge they were throwing at me. I also tried sheeping one for CC and off tanking one with my VW but that really didnt help much either. The targeting would get messed up pretty easily. So any thoughts anyone? Am I just missing something? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I did Ragefire at 14 (pally + 4 shammies). I remember the trogg pulls (and especially the even larger pulls of cultists near the end) as hitting pretty hard. I just had to be careful to heal early, and not wait for my tank to get to half health. Also, even with only 2 DPS, you should be able to kill one of the troggs before they reach you. So you might consider just ignoring one (perhaps one of those caster types if they're part of the pull), and having DPS burn it down, while you judge right on a second then quickly switch to the third and melee it once. That makes the three pull a two pull before they've really started hitting the tank.

Yes, Paladin tanking really suffers until Consecration at level 20.

Yeah you're overlvl'd for RFC lol; the key is to kill the Caster troggs first. At low lvls, Casters do INSANE damage for their lvl(like the Defias Pillagers inwestfall used to do over 100dmg per fireball, which is enough to 2-3 shot most chars at that lvl, Blizz nerfed them recently down to about 30-60dmg); the same is true for all casters for quite awhile, they put out massive dmg in exchange for their lower hp/armor; burn them first. Always. Melee are gnats to a tank, but Casters burn through everyone ;p

Going by your setup, have a mage sheep one(Preferably a Melee, Casters have to die FIRST in 90% of cases; if sheep breaks/mage dies and that caster comes un-cc'd you're fucked, better to destroy it early and deal with the easier-tanked melee later) after the pala pulls(Manually set his target pre-fight then fix it after sheep, or use a Sheep Target=Focus macro and MANUALLY set the focus per-pull then give him the normal DPS target, no target switching needed midfight), Priest shield the pala pre-pull if he has it since you won't be rage-starved by it, put a renew up too(may require a Fade, but that's what it's there for); Fear one if you have the room, I think you have it by now, if not, consider Curse of Weakness instead of Agony to help mitigation

Thanks for the comments everyone. I will try them out and see where I am at. I know I am high enough for this. I think a big part is just me learning how to do this on 1 box.

Thanks

Is your pally using a shield?
