View Full Version : Does WOW seem quiet these days?

Of late I've noticed that trade is often very quiet, guildys only logging on to raid and then head back to rift or RL to do something else. I did a bit of a google search on wow dying and plenty of posts about it, but then I guess there always is when a new mmo drops. I'm not really even suggesting rift is the culprit, ppl have tried new mmo's and come back plenty of times and most ppl I know who are playing it seem to already getting bored with it.
All the guilds on my server seem to be struggling with "attendance".
Trade didn't have anything said on it for 5m last night. I thought my ui was broken! This was at 9pm.
My AH scans seem to be a lot quicker.. Less on AH?
Anyway... What do u guys think? Is it quiet?

My server seemed to drop off significantly after Rift went retail. Im in five or six wow guilds and some people in them are quitting as their subsciption time runs out. Maybe it will come back around. I doubt blizzard rehashing old content or homogenizing classes is going to bring people back though.

Yeah, it's getting old...real old. I'm only around because there's nothing better to play.

I've switched to Rift, not because it's necessarily better but because it's newer and has some interesting game mechanics.
IMO, it's the first real challenger to WoW and they have done a lot of things "right." The interface is slick, the visuals are cool and for multiboxers, autofollow really works well. The macro system is pretty flexible but not OP. Time will tell if it has the end game to keep people around.
It seems to combine a lot of the "best" elements of previous MMO's into one product. My favorite part of Warhammer, for example, were the public quests. Rifts are essentially the same thing, done a little bit better.

I might try rift if it didnt require buying a new computer to five box.

Cenarius (Alliance/US) is still very populated, any time of day.
It's the 11th most populated server (more so than any of the big boxing servers) with 80% alliance on the server.
We get the Chuck Norris things, and Anal links in trade pretty constantly.
An auctioneer auction scan takes 20-35 minutes.
Conversely, battlegrounds pop in 90 seconds if you queue AV, when its not AV weekend.
The weekend battleground or random, are close enough to instant pop.
Fives queue's are under 5 minutes, at primetime or on weekends.
Twos queue's are under 2 minute at primetime or on weekends.

How far in the game is rift atm, as in did endgame already started? (not going to even bother playing before I've seen the raiding mechanics)

Definitely not dying on my realm, then again it was always low pop, went from that to High when there was free transfers too avoid the queues on high pop realms but people alot have transfered back off the realm, it still has more players then it used too thats for sure, but same thing will happen as weeks pass more people will transfer away onto higher pop realms.
Think it just varies server to server.

Rift is more of a grind than WOW ever was honestly. The quests are so boring most go insane and 50% are collection quests. If the questing doesn't kill you - the end game content will. It's grind the same 4 dungeons repeatedly that you already ran leveling up for minor upgrades. Talking using whetstones on your T1 makes it as good as T2.
Raid are dull as hell 'I hear'. There's only 1 as well.
You ask if endgame started. Hell brother... People have ran it week one and most have already unsubbed.
Now I don't hate Rift or anything. To me it was alright... Pretty graphics... There's just no depth to that game.

I quit at the last release when I heard it was just more solo collecting quests. Screw that.
I've been playing around with City of Heroes again. there is a distinct bonus for grouping in CoH instead of a penalty. it's nothing close to WoW but it's been long enough for me that I'm enjoying it again. I'm going to move to Rift soon.
Cant expect Rift to have as much content as WoW 1 month after release Dont you remember what WoW had when it released? Give them a chance to put more into the game jeez. Would you release a game that has a ton of content, 10 warfronts ect ect if you dont even know if the game is going to make it? Im personaly having a blast with 1 riftstalker 4 bards for instances and 5 saboteurs fo pvp makes for some awesome world pvp. Lotsa QQ from defiant

Lots of factors. First is prolly the release of Rift, but for me, there just isnt anything to do in wow. The queue times for a randoms are 40+minutes and the rewards are just not worth it. The current raid stuff is just dumb and not exciting like Illidan and Lich King were with the lore behind coming from the old warcraft games. 4.1 is going to be dumb because troll content is dumb and every troll zone and dungeon is dumb because trolls run away and never come back.
I dont see myself doing much with wow till firelands and ragnoros come back. War of the Ancients will be pretty cool and the final deathwing will be neat, But till then, its about on par as a facebook game.
