I'm sure my fellow Multiboxers here are aware, But Blizz has laid down the bans big time.
It created a few good moments today, as I logged into my 4x Druid low lever team, and got asked over and over, how I wasn't banned. It all was good though, as I got to educate them about Multiboxing, and direct them here.
I knew they had peeps flying below the ground and mining herbing, But I had no idea they where doing it with arch, or the numbers of peeps out there who where doing this.
This can be a win win for us I believe. While the amount of ore and herbs will go down momentarily, this gives us the window to really open up the goods we have saved. (Gems, Potions, Scripts. ) all those things we have stocked up mats for , in our bank.
I had made a promise to myself a long time ago, to keep at least 8-10 stacks of every herb or Ore in my Banks, and now it looks like it may be time to make some Gold off of them.
anywho, what are you fine ladies and gentlemens thoughts on this?

This used to make me so mad it hurt. I hated the fact that people could mine from underground. I could NOT see how Blizzard wasn't able to stop it. Blizzard could have easily setup an auto ban for this. It's been 2-3 years and just NOW they are getting to it? Bahhh way to damn late if you ask me.

Where are you getting your information from. I did a quick search on the wow web sites and haven't seen any news on mass banning.

Bans? I just perused a blue-tracker and some of the other forums and I'm not seeing anything about bans. Got linky?

The 'bad sites' are reporting a ban wave. I didn't see anything about underground gathering hackers, it was mostly about some
Archaeology stuff.

I really hate the BG AFKers or Botters or whatever you call them. I always took the heat if we were losing, even when it was 13 on 15. No one notices the people with 0 0 0 0 score, but they notice the multiboxer and blame any sort of loss on me.

There goes my 15/20k per day inscription /mining business :D
At least I suspect the herbs & ore were not farmed by a normal person. For months now every day around 5 am really cheap herbs & ore were posted on the AH. If the market price was 3g for an outland herb, this player would post for 1.5-1.8g. Always a couple of stacks. Not to an extend that they farmed like the entire day or so. Reported this suspicious behavior months ago. Same account kept posting. So started buying them, day after day, same hour. The player ended up COD'ing them to me. If he tried increasing the cod price, it'd just not accept it. But then again, I've known 2 guys in my former guild who leveled up an alt from 80 to nearly 85 by just mining & herbing and making a killing.
Either way, crafting a glyph that costs me 15g and selling it for 90-150g is quite lucrative. Melting ore into bars or prospecting them as well, with very little effort.
Can't check if the player was banned as well, as we have weekly maintenance day.
The main (afaik) bad site reports a bust of a major bot.

A popular bot was found to be detectable. They were specifically targeting how the bot was automating the leveling of archaeology. From what various sites are reporting it doesn't seem to have anything to do with underground miners/herbers. Another quite popular bot went largely unaffected which supports the claims that this one function was the target.
Feel free to do your own research but please don't link any of it here.

From what I've read also players that did not use the archeology function of said bot go booted. It turns out that the bot was communicating through a chat channel rather than using injection other bots are using.
Update to my previous post: no cheap herbs/ore in my mailbox today, guess it was indeed a fishy gatherer.

Finally!
I always hated seeing 5+ people just sitting at the damn zone and the "Report AFK" thing being completely useless.

haha, can't say there is a change in market prices on KilJad horde side. proves the point you can't ban Chinese kids from playing wow and earning enough money to feed family whole week.

People are still AFK today, in BG's.
But hopefully it is fewer players than before.
And hopefully, they catch players quicker and are more harsh with those that cheat in this manner.

From the link... reply from bliz
We’re in the process of stepping up our detection and tracking to log and action players that are botting, or habitually AFKing in the Battlegrounds. We’ll be taking aggressive action and removing earned items, Honor Points, and ultimately suspending or even banning accounts of those that are found to be botting or habitually AFKing. It’s a sophisticated level of monitoring we’re undertaking. No one actively playing in the Battlegrounds normally should be concerned that they’ll be actioned.

I remember that post on wow forums when it happened.... but the next day some of the same farming bots in Uldum still exist and they are even still there now.... no matter how many times they have been reported.

If they are botting, exploiting should be a ban, none of this removing items and a suspension with a slap of the wrist.

They want to ban the sellers.
But retain the buyers.
If they really want to curb the gold sales, bots etc.
They should go really hard for both ends of the deals.
Doubt that will happen.

Maybe if they gave points in BG's based upon healing and damage and objectives and zero points if you did zero things then people would not AFK in BG's.

I'd really be in favor of that.
PvP activities rewarding honor.
Even if it is killing enemy players, which isn't always beneficial as far as objectives go... it still ties them up from objectives themselves.

The thing is, how do you rate the individual activities? Is there a threshold you have to pass to get full credit or is it a sliding scale based on the % of dmg/heal/etc. you do that determines your honor amount?
This has been debated quite a bit in the past and in the end, nobody has ever been able to agree on what makes each contribution meaningful. CC can be a game-breaker applied to the right people in the BG but you don't see CC stats in the end-game breakdowns.
