I'm trying to figure out how a Rorqual would benefit my mining ops (in addition to an Orca, I'll wind up having two Orcas actually...). The compression seems cool but entirely pointless in highsec, since you're probably close to a station as it is. It gives slightly higher bonuses to gang links than the Orca. It can't be docked right? So you have to leave it in space when you logout?

I'm guessing using a Rorqual in highsec is like using a battleship in l1 missions?

You cant use a Rorq in hi-sec at all.

That's right it's a caipial ship like a carrier, dreadnought, titan, etc.

AFAIK most people have them sitting at a POS as they're too valuable and vulnerable to place at belts.

I think they can be docked though? Not sure on that.

I use a rorqual heavily in null-sec. Im one of the crazy rorqual owners who will not leave it in a POS and actually put it into the belt to help haul, be used, and store stuff faster, i just leave it aligned out at all times, but i also have carriers for protection, to help the Rorqual escape, if a red slips past my scout into my home space.

They cant be used from a dock, but definitely a POS, in Deployed Mode, you get a major boost in bonuses, so its always worth boosting if you have more then 4 miners in your gang.

But unfortunately you cant use the Rorqual in Hi-Sec :-(,

Note the plural there - Meeo you're like a one man alliance - you're not secretly Chribba are you?

I wish i was chribba, then i would have supers LOL.

Im sure im not the only one with carriers, i suspect that Souca also has them as well, but may not speak about them :-P. Secretive Southerners........

I have a single carrier, and I still need to fit it properly. I don't mind talking about the carrier, it's the black ops I will deny all existence of.

You're my hero now Meeo ;) How do your carriers stand up to the normal raiding parties. I've honestly never fought against a carrier to know how tough they are and how much damage they can dish out.

So they can boost from a POS and the miners in a asteroid belt will still receive the bonuses? Wouldn't a POS be pretty far away from belts?

AFAIK gang boosts work provided both parties are in the same system and neither is in a station (plus having the right fleet organisation). I'm using it to my advantage as a couple of my toons have some leadership abilities so I make them squad commanders.

Yes generally you would be using a rorqual in the same system as your mining fleet, in 0.0 we generally tend to have POSs at all possible mining systems we can drop our rorquals into for protection.

Also Robin is correct as well, Boosting is system wide to those in your fleet as long as your Fleet Hierarchy is setup properly.

So what is the rorqual's 250km tractor beam for? Can you position a POS 249km away from a belt and just tractor cans to you?

Sorry dude, I wish POS were as good as that. They can _only_ be placed next to moons.

One thing that would really improve EVE would be a complete revamp to POS - placing them anywhere, allowing them to have public access options, making them look a lot better, etc
