View Full Version : [WoW] Anyone know how Honor is calculated in AV?

I've run a lot of AV's, where the top person gets say 213 honor, meanwhile my toons are around 100 honor.
And I have a lot more HK's then the top person.
Some of my toons have assaulted towers or graveyards, or retaken a bunker; the person with more honor usually hasn't.
I know there are guild ranks where you get bonus honor.
But getting more than double is probably not possible, with a 5 or 10% bonus.
Just curious if anyone knows how the honor is calculated.
In a typical game I will:
- Army of the Dead, at Galv and help kill him/take out the horde that camp him.
- Cap one of Snowfall or Iceblood Graveyard.
- Backcap Stonehearth Bunker or take one of Iceblood Tower or Tower Point.
- Kill every horde I can, that passes through the IBGY area of the map, which usually puts me in the top 10 or so for HK's on both sides.

Honor (really hard for me to spell it this way because I'm Australian :P) on the scoreboard includes bonus honor for those doing random BGs or weekend BGs. If you are not doing random or this is not your first B win of the day on a random or weekend then this will explain much of the discrepancy.
Otherwise honor in all battlegrounds works the same. Honor from achievement of any goals (such as burning towers, killing Galv or achieveing resource targets) is shared among all of the active players in the battleground at that time.
Honor for HKs is shared between the players that contributed to that particular kill and how much they contributed. I am not sure how this is worked out for healers but if you solo kill an opposition player you will generally get more honor than you will in a group. In this case I will find that although I may have the same number of HKs as another player, if they have done more overall damage, they may have slightly more honor.
If there is a big discrepancy however, it will most likely be the 90 points you get for your first random for the day compared to your own 45 points for subsequent wins or less if you queued for AV specifically rather than random.
PS: no bonus honor for tower takers/defenders, flag cappers/returners etc. unfortunately. Might have a few more productive BGs if this were the case...
Also my 2c on playing AV is that quick losses are better than slow wins :P I know defending galv is fun occasionally but honor per hour is better if you finish games quickly; ideally winning but otherwise losing. Note this is only the case if you are doing it as random or bonus. Also generally at sub maximum level, it is tough to get quick games as the end bosses are comparatively harder for lower teams to kill. Knowing you generally do things well, I assume you are in one of these latter situations ;)

The 90 points, for a first win in a random BG would account for the difference entirely.
I've been queuing specifically for AV.
And up until 15 mins ago, it was not the weekend BG.

Even though you queue specifically for AV, others queing for their random BG may end up in the same AV and if it's their first of the day, they will get that bonus honor in their score.
But I do understand the confusion on scoring. I've repeatedly asked for some breakdown of how honor is scored in BGs, but to no avail.
Even tho the Honor system might be weard and hard to understand the deph in sometimes, id like to se it this way: In the end all my character will be geared and when that happens some off the gameplay goals ends (even tho new comes up it still a few goals that dissapears) so be glad to be able to farm :P

The honor system in AV is pretty simple:
1. Honor is gained for every tower/bunker destroyed and killing galv/baelinda.
2. Further honor is gained at the end of the AV for every tower/bunker defended on your side as well as galv/baelinda. You still get the bonus for the towers/bunkers when they are being captured but are not destroyed yet.
3. Daily BG and AV weekend bonus are added to the total.
Killing players of the opposing faction is not worth it if you're doing it for honor, it's really only good for HK achievements.

btw, if you die 1x more than me, and all the rest is equal, i'll get more honor than you

Do you know that for a fact? I don't think that is the case, some people get less honor because they've killed a certain person more than you have in other AVs. Killing the same person multiple times gives diminishing honor.

I have a good idea of what things give honor, but what I want to know HOW MUCH honor you get for various things.

Note that this list is old, I don't know if it has changed a lot. I guess some testing could verify it.
Also on honor gaining and dying. When you're dead you gain no honor. So if an enemy player get's killed close to you, you get no honor for it obviously. Because of this you'll see that people who died recieve less honor. Besides that being dead removes you from the battlefield and you have to run back.
I can't imagine there's a penalty on dying or so.
