View Full Version : Deathknight spec PvP/Arena
What do you think about this specc/glyph chooise for 4x DK team + a healer in 5v5.
Will stacking anti-magic zone give me super magic absorb, or is it better to go with a roundrobin on it?

IMO you are better off with going Frost spec. If you are set on unholy though, you need to reduce your death grip cooldown on the first tier and also get death's advance for anti-snare goodness. I would consider dropping points out of sudden doom perhaps, given that you won't be hitting with auto attacks that often? I don't know the proc rate on this one though, so take that advice with a pinch of salt.
This was one of the most annoying things when I was trying out unholy builds for 4.0.6. It is such a bloated tree that it is very hard to finish at 31 points to give you the 10 or so points to get the utility/valuable talents low in the other trees. Another reason to go frost :P
Ok, well i was mostly thinking about 4x pet + gargoyle with 4x Anti-magic zone on round robin beeing good, but i gues that you DW with your DKs in frost and that it should be a better pvp specc then.

Something like this? :)

Play around with Unholy, see what you can do with it.
It won't hurt to experiment.
Most of the DK Manifesto crowd... tried Unholy because of Death's Advance.
I don't think any of them stuck with it, especially after the nerfs.
I leveled my DK's as Unholy, up until the talent changes which made Rune Tap inaccessible.
Blood actually worked for leveling, and retained the heals (was 5x DK's, without a healer in Slot 5).
Unholy has a lot of toys, but I didn't see those as easy to translate to boxing, compared to the Manifesto put forth by Mosg2.
Frost has two modes, basically.
a) Howling Blast + Frost Strike + Necrotic Strike + Blood Strike (remove this once Blood Runes are permanently Death Runes in 4.1).
b) Hungering Cold + Obliterate + Frost Strikes.
There is AoE pressure, and Anti-Healing.
Or melee range CC and massive single target DPS.
And with two hotkeys, each tied to a priority/castsequence... we can bounce between them to really pressure opposing healers.
Frost is rather strong still.
So it is an option to consider.
Ok sounds resonable, how would the cast sequences look like in a macro? To make spells prio etc. I would love some imput on that.
Thx for info so far :)

In the PvP section, there is version 2 of the DK Manifesto by Mosg2.
It is hosted on Justin.tv, and covers a lot of stuff for the team.
He uses IS Boxer, and a weighted priority system.
Basically, pushing one button on key down, and mashing six buttons on key up.
The general idea is: HB, HB, FS, FS, NS, BS, HC, mashed a ton.
That's for the HB version of the DPS.
There was another for the Obliterate, single target... but I've not implemented that yet.
You'll want the base (non-Unholy) Anti-Magic thing (vs Everything that gives a Debuff Icon), Lichborne (vs Fear), Icebound Fortitude (vs Stun) and Pillar of Frost (vs Knockback), as easy to get to hotkeys.
Those and the trinket, make the DK's immune to a lot of things, while they do their initial burst.
You want to run in Unholy Presence, and use 2-Handers for PvP.
I spec/glyph like this: http://www.wowhead.com/talent#jbZGMRrfzRdbuf0b:Mam0cqMm
Although possibly the last point in Obliterate might be worthwhile, if you use Obliterate a lot.

Frost is getting buffed... unholy has been toned down a lot. People speculate that frost might over take unholy in most comps.
Multi-boxing point of view... Frost = burst, and that's how we land kills.
