Hey,

I've noticed that most people, if not all seem to be running their chars using the default UI - However, is there any practical reason for this, or just preference? I have a UI built up and personally don't like the default UI, but I'm trying to better myself and wondered if there was any reason apart from the aesthetical appeal it has towards people?

Also - Another quick question if you don't mind answering... How do you run your grid and healing setups? I've seen pvp'ers like pinot {who not only does pvp, but for this example!} who has grid on a custom layout only showing his chars, which i've seen in a lot of videos.
I can understand the pros of this being that you can see your toons in the center of the screen which allows you to heal and monitor them a lot more effectively.
The issue I have with that, is that what about any friends and so forth that play with you, how do you monitor the rest of your raid/bg and friends, as well as being able to monitor your team?
I'm not sure how I can position this myself, because I want my team in the center so I can monitor and heal, etc but i also want to be able to see my raid teams. I've thought about using grid with custom layouts for my team, and perhaps adding in my friends onto the custom layouts, and having the raid and bg frames in the corner of my screen out the way and using healbot or something like that to monitor and be able to heal them, Any opinions or better suggestions please? I welcome all the help I can be to better myself!

Thank you, And sorry for what started as a small question to turn into a wall of text! :D

I love the clean look of LUI - http://www.wow-lui.com/ and that everythink is at the same place on every toon

I've spent a ton of time on mine, I did a write up on it on my web site. It dosnt take up a lot of the screen and has most everything needed plus uses the IsBoxer click bars.

The default UI doesn't provide enough information or customization for me. For example, I want to be able to see when I'm getting procs on my slaves instead of guessing, or I want to be able to track these de/buffs without having to track a dozen other de/buffs.

Other people are fine with the default UI. They never have to worry about things changing or breaking. Though I tend towards mods that are very actively maintained, so it's rare that I find myself with things so broken that I can't play. I actually can't recall the last time that happened.

And I'd actually say it's the other way around. Most people use at least moderately custom UIs. The default UI users seem to be in the minority.

I try to use as much of the default UI as possible.
Mainly because with a significant patch, a lot of addons will break.
And the default UI doesn't need an update.

I'm using Shadowed Unit Frames, as I cannot stand the default unit frame.
The information is much easier to read.

I'm using Grid for party/raid health and debuffs.

For the longest time I was using Dot Timer for buffs and cooldowns.
But that broke, and there wasn't an update fast enough for me.
So I have the default Blizzard buffs at the moment.

I'm using the default Blizzard bars.
Not all of them are visible, but 72 action bar buttons for Warcraft residing macros is plenty of space for me.
There are a few macros which reside within IS Boxer.
But 90% of my set up, is keybinds sent from IS Boxer to WoW, with warcraft macros on those keybinds.

I also use Deadly Boss Mods.
But mainly for pvp timers these days, haven't raided this expansion.

I've got a Damage Meter, but that's hidden usually.

I've just setup isboxer to handle all the keymapping to spells/abilities and have nothing hotbarred.

But my UI is far from empty.. still got

Player, Target, Target's Target
Grid
Omen
Recount
Jamba Party (for watching exp)
Square Map
Chat window

I've disabled everything else though

I have been trying to figure out how to do that...

Maybe I am blind, but is there some sort of guide or thread floating about on how to accomplish that?

Which bit would you like me to elaborate on ?
