reactivated, bought the xpacs, and now I am lvl 84. I used to run dk+3rets and 4 shammans. Guild moved to a different server, so I decided I wanted to try a mix group and add a 5th. What I have:

Death Knight
Paladin
Priest
Shaman
Warlock

Currently, I have this as my setup:
Death Knight - blood (tanking)
Paladin - ret (dps, terrible)
Priest - shadow (was disc)
Shaman - elemental
Warlock - destruction

at lvl 84, the shadow priest, warlock, and shaman are doing about 9k dps (on a target dummy). and my ret is doing about 2k dps. So I am thinking about using my paladin as my healer and going holy. Been doing some searching, can't really find any holy paladin macros or people that use the paladin as a healer.

Is a paladin healer the way to go?

I have always driven from the tank, but if I use the paladin as a healer, I might drive from the paladin.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

The Pally is an exceptionally good single target healer.
They can Beacon to heal a second target.
And through a Tier 1 talent, heal themself a decent amount too.
They don't have a lot of tools for AoE healing, so will be a bit challenged anytime they need to heal the group.
Still, the Priest can bubble the party; or you could run him/her as Disc which would help with heals (Smite can heal the lowest nearby party/raid member, via talents).

I would personally run the Pally as the Tank.
Both a Priest and Shaman make excellent healers; take your pick.
I'd likely go with Shaman Resto, because Earth Shield + Riptide is fairly mindless healing and strong enough for most encounters.
Then the Priest can go dual-spec Shadow or Disc, depending if you want offense or support heals/shields.

Run the DK as Frost, following Mosg2's DK Manifesto; you'd have to play with CTM/IWT, but with DK/3x Ret you probably already were.
Warlock could be any spec; I like Destro for the ranged stun and replenishment.

I personally prefer priest healers because they are superb at healing groups. The paladin is the easiest tank to box and has many oShit abilities.

If you use a priest healer then a dk can be a great tank but then what are you going to do with the paladin. I guess you could make it a shockadin...

thanks for the replies. :D

I am playing around at being 85, and will attempt some normals soon. Gearing up with BOEs craftables, spending some old honor and justice points, and respecing and configuring setups.

Now

Paladin - tank
DK - frost, dps
Shaman - dps
Warlock - dps
Priest - Holy
