View Full Version : Tried IT at lvl 17

I tried IT a couple of times today at lvl 17 using my Reaver/RB/BM, R/S/B, R/B/S, B/S/R, Sent/Inq/Sham team.
The first boss is cake -- in fact getting to him the first time was harder than spanking him. The next boss -- the three... Uf. When they spawn 1 at a time, they are all pretty easy except the cleric -- until I thought to fear him when he started to heal. However, when all three come at once... I think I need a couple of levels and some respecs :)
For those of you that have done IT during beta (or live ha) -- when is it doable? 19? Also, any strategy hints for the 3 kings at the same time?

So you're playing melee classes? How's that working out in Rift?
I really want to roll melee classes but i'm not sure how annoying it will be without ITW.
Kind regards,

Only one of them is melee, and I rely heavily on flamespear :) The rogues are all ranged with a dose of bard (in 2 cases, a heavy dose). The cleric is primarily aoe heal with some ranged dps. What seems to be seriously lacking is reliable cc.
What is ITW?

I tried it again at 18 with these builds (yah those are lvl 17 builds... but you get the picture :))
Try1:
Healy Cleric: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=00jea.x0xb.xx
Heavy Bard x3 : http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0McTN.xIzm0o.V
Reaver/RB: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0cALm.xzquz.x
Try2:
Healy Cleric: (same as above)
Heavy Bard x3 : (same as above)
War/Pally: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0cEhm.xA00z.x0R
(ouch)
Try3:
Healy Cleric: (same as above)
Heavy Bard x2 (same as above)
DPS Bard x1: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0MNcT.EMo0z.xc
Reaver: (same as above)
What happens is that the 3 kings split -- 1 or 2 focus on the pets, one goes right to the cleric or a heavy bard. I played the tank for this run and used all the CC / aggro I had. Once the pets are dead (they even kill the poor druid pet), then they gang up on the tank, while one continues to thrash the backfield. Once the tank is dead... Well, you probably got the picture :)
I thought I read that someone did this in Beta (Void)? Maybe at higher level?

General tips not level specific.
1. Presume you are using sword and board ?
2. Presume your Bards are all spamming Cadence ?
3. Drop the Warden points and go deeper into Sentinel - Healing Invocation is amongst the best spam heals in the game.
4. Be aware HoTs pre pull generate instant aggro and that for some reason only Trion understand OVERHEALS GENERATE AGGRO ALSO.
5. One of the most important ability in the Pallie/Warlord build is Sergeants Orders (Death Grip). Draws casters or adds to you and taunts them and is on an 8 second cooldown. After that it's all about blocking, dodging, parrying and taunting.
Pallie/Warlord tank - charge one mob, ignore mob that attacks pets intitially. Using Sergeants Orders to grab the second. Build a little aggro on the tank. Spam Cadence and make sure Motif of Regen is up from all Bards as well as other Motifs.
Be aware disarm not only makes melee mobs 'drop their weapon' but stops it attacking totally.
If you stick with Reaver absolutely drop the Riftblade and pick up Warlord or Pallie instead. Probably Pallie for 10% increased block and 'Pacifying Strike' which is a great foundational attack as it generates additional hate.
I'd suggest you consider dropping a Bard to get a Chloromancer in there. They would be easily my first pick of any class for a tank group.
i) Radiant spores is a debuff that spreads amongst mobs once skilled up. It returns 30% of all damage dealt to mobs as heals.
ii) They also heal in the same way as Bard Cadence does, but with all life damage.
iii) They have burst heals.
iv) They have rez.

1) Yep
2) Yep
3) Given #4, thank you sir! :)
4) Ouch. I didn't know that, and that explains a lot
5) I did use this but didn't spam it as I was losing aggro on the others (overhealing cleric spamming aoe and hots), I was relying on the reaver concussion ability to try and grab all 3 but it only lasts for 3 seconds...
I will try another run with Reaver/Pally -- the dotty spec above was my questing spec and it works great on the trash mob groups at the beginning of IT.
The Chloro idea is an interesting one -- sounds a bit like a cross between the cleric and bard. Also, then I could slot a cc soul and polymorph a bastiche or two. I think I'd drop the cleric though. That way I can run one (or two) rogues in DPS mode most of the time.
Something like this: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zRsw.Vdhu0c.bc (lvl 18 spec)

Yay! I finally doed it!
I finally got some key UI pieces in place so I could control who is doing what, when, who is getting cc'd vs. silenced, and who is getting healed by the cleric. Plus, I put a tank heal spam (healing invocation) macro on the same key as the bard cadence spam. These things plus the great advice in this thread put the dagger in IT.
Awesome advice right chere!
