View Full Version : [WoW] Quad Paladin or Quad DK? Cannot decide

I need suggestions on what to do.

Should i keep playing my level 77 Alliance Paladins(4 of them), Or should i move into my Quad DK group?

As of right now my Paladins are managing in dungeons, But with lack of DPS, Ret doesn't seem to be as "effective" as Prot spec, as strange as that sounds. Even though i'm pushing 1200-1300 DPS as Prot, boss fights still take a few, but are really easy, I've even 'carried' a few healers through instances because they don't need to throw heals as often with a directed macro on the 3 slaves to lead for WoG heals.

But all in all, I'm really not sure which to play, I just would like some overall suggestions / tips / pointers, etc. I am honestly thinking of playing the 4 DK's and running my 5th account as a healer (4DK 1 Holy Paladin), as the Paladin is level 64, equal level of the Death Knight group.

All tips, suggestions, feedback, etc, is appreciated..

Thanks.

The 4x DK & 1x Pally, will be one of the better compositions for PvP play.

You can do PvE content too.
Either 1x Blood, 3x Frost and 1x Holy.
Or 4x Blood, 1x Holy.

I've got a somewhat neglected group of Pallies..
55th now.

They're planning on going Holy Shock / Exorcism.
In the 70-74 bracket.
Will get them to 72nd, for Avenging Wrath.
HS/Exorcism is very strong and almost no mana at lower levels.

Some people love their Pally groups.
Others have said they're a waste of time.
So far, through mid 50's, Holy Pallies x5 are phenomenal.

Maybe I'm just a retarded monkey but the 4.0 patch felt like it completely nerfed my all-paladin group playing as 4ret+prot. 5 prots were OK but tended to fall prey to the enrage timer/not-enough-DPS problems without overgearing things yet. Having seen some of the post-4.0 subjective reports on boxing DKs, I think I'd probably go with them plus a healer. I've been out for a month so things might have changed enough that they're back to relative parity. Rets have been one of the laughing stocks of the DPS charts for a while unless that's recently improved.

From the pvp forum here...

Rets are still decent in 5's arena.
Not nearly as strong as they were last expansion.
But decent burst, with cooldowns.
And survivability.

However the change to Word of Glory, with a 20 sec cooldown, on test.
If that goes live, that will really hurt the composition.

4x DK's + 1x Pally > 4x Pallies + 1x DK.
At least for most of us.

Alright, Thanks much for the replies; Yeah it definitely seems like Ret is pretty bad right now, Who knows - It might get better.

So far i've decided on the 4 DK's and 1 Holy Paladin, Might as well use the 4 Paladins for Alch transmutes and dailies, etc.

Thanks much.

Looking around a bit, looks like for raiding, rets aren't doing quite as bad as they were.

A month ago they were all back-of-da-bus and shit with BM hunters. Looks like they're in the middle overall now.

Btw, Does anyone know of an addon that will track my Holy Power charges on my alt paladins? But shown on my lead paladin.

If anyone has suggestions / knows of a addon that will do so(Track Holy power), Would be much appreciated to get information on it.

Thanks.

I know you can track it with Power Auras.

Also, Prega wrote an addon recently, specifically for Holy Power.
Search might find that.

Yeah, I have decided on the 4 DK and 1 Healer group, So i'll just use the Paladins for transmutes; I can get 525 Alchemy at level 77, Does anyone know if that's possible?

At level 75+ (I have two teams at 75), you can train for a 525 skill cap.
Train them up to 485, for the Elemental Transmute.

Have the character, who is on the same account as your auction mule, bound in Stormwind/Ogrimmar.
Leave that toon in SW/Ogr.

Fly the rest of the team to Gadgetzan.
From there, fly into Uldum and head for Vortex Pinnacle.
Hug the coast a little bit, not sure if slow flyers can go through the deep water quickly enough.
Park the team by the summoning stone.

Have your AH toon send your Alt on the same account (instant mail), 75x Volatile Life.
Group the team up, and summon that toon.
Distribute the Life, do the Transmute, trade the results to the same Alt.
Hearth.
Mail to your AH toon.

Incidentally, Transmute Elements will take you to 520 (of 525) by the time it grays out.
