Hi all.
Im new to multiboxing and im running my first team. Using my lvl 70 prot pally i have boosted 4x mages to 40 with no problems in SM. So having read the forums over and over i knew it was time to move on, and ZF was meant to be the best place to go.
But im seriously struggling.
Too many totems are being laid. Meaning i cant DPS the mobs down quickly because they are regenning health and the alts get nuked quickly from lava totems.
Any suggestions? Advice?
Atm it looks like there are too many casters in this instance that slow me down.
Please Help!
Thanks
Use a lot of Line of sight, its very doable, park the mages somewhere, go walky on the pally (with mount up), and then Los behind a wall/tent/ anything. This is really doable in zf, even use that strat with my own pally, works like a charm.

Either Sheep the casters or DPS them first. If you're on top of your CC, you shouldn't be having "too many" totems being laid.
EDIT: I heard the word "mage" so I'm assuming your group comp includes them. Could be wrong. Correct me with your classes/levels. ;)

How many mobs do u suggest i pull then?
Unfortunately i have now got into the habit of pulling as many as possible and slowly burning them down using pally and mage AOE.
Do i have to take ZF as if i were doing a proper instance???

Are you having problems dealing with the totems?
AoEing instances can work for low level stuff. As you get to the more difficult instances, CC definitely makes things more manageable.
As for me, I ran 4 shammies/1 paladin with no CC and handled the totems fine. Burst down the totem mobs first, clean up any remaining totems, and move on to the melee mobs. Keep the blood drinkers away from your party (they heal when they hurt you). But what works for some people doesn't work for others. If you're having problems with your standard mode of attack, try sheeping and see if that helps.
do you have your mages doing any dps?
Get them throwing some arcane explosions. Im not sure howcome u have a dps problem,
Alternative go find yourself a 1.8 speed weapon from the AH and hit the totems whilst consecrating if its an issue.
Faster weapon means that u can kill the totems quicker without having to wait for your swing.

Cheers for the replies guys.
Whilst feeling frustrated last night i started 5x Shamies. So i will go back to ZF with the mages another time.
ZF is actually not that AOE friendly compared to SM cath, or even later instances like Sunken Temple. It is still doable though, just with a little more caution.
I did it with my 4xmage team & 1 priest without a 70 to help, From 44 up to 46. You just need to be aware of how many Blood Drinkers, & those shammie types that drop the healing wards.
Once you get your pull size down, get a few levels, & get out of that instance & into sunken Temple as fast as you can, its much better xp for less work.

ZF is doable, but to be honest, I didn't find it worthwhile XP-wise compared to hunting outdoors. It is a royal pain compared to the simplicity that is Scarlet Monastery. At some point, the Pally repair bills start to outweigh the minor increase (if any!!) to questing in the lovely post-2.3 world.
Go quest, it's fast and great XP and more fun than dying repeatedly (or slowly chugging along) in ZF. With your setup, I'd do instances with your main only to knock out the better-XP quests in them. (I highly recommending doing the quests in BRD, as an example, when you're ready for them).

I, too was having this problem.
Round up a bunch of mobs, focus on the witch doctors. They are the only ones that drop totems. Take them out first, the rest will fall. If you can just focus fire on em, then move the mobs to where there are no remaining totems this should be a breeze. Otherwise you can just focus and kill the totems, but I just move out of their range.
I don't have the setup you do, just a 70 hunter and a 70 priest, just got a new account for a mage and it got to 42 in no time. Love the stairs =^) Send pet to the mob, round em up, bring em back, misdirect, volley, shield pet, holy nova x15 with explosive trap, done, hehe...
Witch doctors are a pain, yeah.. Just drop em first.

Make a macro for the mage to Fireblast/Wand the totems.

I was just going to say...
If not a macro on your mages (I actually like that idea better then my own) make a macro on your paladin to target and attack totems.
