I believe you will be able to, after five or so posts.
This is a forum, anti-bot spam thing.

I was wondering about that as well, seems a little unclear what and where to post when I'd like to be on a game specific forum and don't really have beginner questions.

The reason for this, is we where having a ton of spammers coming in, and the powers that be where spending way too much time cleaning up threads. I know it's kind of tough on the new peeps, but after a few posts, you will be good, and it really helps the boards stay presentable.
Besides, if we all needed new Sneakers, jeans, Body enlargements, and money from Nigeria, we know where to go, and it isn't Dual Boxing.com.

I realize it's hard to see at the top of every forum but:

If you're lucky, an admin will see a nice friendly first introduction post and bump you up before 5 posts.
I saw that, but then after a few failed post attempts, had to dig around to the bottoms of each forum listing to find which one I was actually allowed to post on. Anyway i get it now, but took a bit:)
I suppose here's as good as any place for an intro to make me 5 posts? I don't see any "introduce yourself" thread but maybe I'm blind.
I've been lurking around for awhile. Started 2-boxing way back in EQ1 before anyone was really doing it. Then in DAOC. Never had any key cloners or macros, just multiple windows or old computers and madly swapping between keyboards. Kept up at least 2 boxing through tons of games, and finally found out that the keycloners were actually legal most places only recently. Thought that was pretty fun and it got me back to playing WoW for awhile with ISboxer. About to give RIFT a try and wanted to hop on the forum there try to meet up with other boxers.

Ahh! That makes a ton of sense -- maybe this bit could be added to the sticky at the top of all the forums?

It's explained in this thread: http://www.dual-boxing.com/announcement.php?f=15
It's essentially a spam bot protection as said above. I often manually adjust people that post because it's then obvious they're a legitimate account. I've missed this thread until now because of the terrible thread subject. For future reference, be quite descriptive and even call me out directly if there is something you want me to see. Or even PM me. Hop in IRC and say my nick in channel. Hell, IM me. I'm pretty accessible.

I had seen the announcement (and think its placement at the top of each forum is fine -- I saw it right away the first time I couldn't post and went looking for why :D) -- what I meant was mentioning it was a spam protection measure.

Its a spam protection right. Well couldn't they just make it spam this section first and then spam the others?

yes if they wanted to spam only this site, but i would assume most spam any forum they can find and many of those forums don't have the same requirements that are set up here.
Soooo... this saves us from all kinds of good advertisements that were mentioned previously in this post.

We have a posting limit, user report features and an active mod on pretty much 24/7. They can't rapid-fire spam, so there's a good chance one of the mods will catch any spam before it gets to that point.

Yeah the Mods have been great at handling the spam, awhile back it had to be a huge headache for them. The worst was when they would spam in a popular or much viewed thread.
This way, is really for the best, and as Svper said, they are all very easy to get in touch with.
I've been a mod on other sites for the better part of a decade, and I'll tell ya, there is a ton of other things I'd rather do than deal with Spam, I'm sure they feel the same way.
Stephen off to watch the Green Hornet.

Just as a bit of an update to this,
Today we're testing out auto banning of multiple account registrations. What this means for you, the legit user is really nothing. You shouldn't see a change. What it means for the spammers is that once we ban a spammer, if they go back and create another account, that account will automatically be banned upon creation. This takes the workload of banning spammers off of the mods and takes a preemptive approach rather than a reactive. The potential issue here is that if you the normal user creates a new account, that account may get automatically banned as well. The good news is that all of the mods have access to a forum here that shows every multiple account detection and have been instructed to keep an eye out in case a legit user gets caught by it.
Among the mods, we ban anywhere from 20-50+ spammers a day. Nearly all of these accounts are banned before they're able to post. We don't like spam, we don't want you guys to see spam. If you do, I apologize, it's slipped through the cracks and sadly, even despite all of our efforts, it will happen. Just report it, or contact me or another one of the mods. Like Khatovar said, one of us is "on duty" nearly 24/7. That's why we've picked the mods we have. (Thankfully the days of me solo modding the site are gone :_D)
If you ever have any questions about the site or need anything I'm easy to reach. Click my profile (http://www.dual-boxing.com/member.php?u=9879), and click "Contact Information" I'm also in IRC 24/7 (http://www.dual-boxing.com/webchat.php)
