Some people start early - I lost a Hulk yesterday

Already docked and staying put. I'm only in Retrievers but don't really want to lose any, or the implants from being podded.

Luckily i'm away on business all week, so wouldn't get much time to play anyway. Think i'll just do a few missions and see if I can get a 100% refining rep on 1 toon.

I'm really bored, I can manage mining while doing other stuff but mission running is too intense. I'd planned to dock up at downtime today but at least one griefer out there suffers from extreme premature ganking problems.

Spent about 2 hours buying ships, skills, ammo for my miners and hauler so they can mission. Got 3 Caracals (cruisers) and a Coercer. Already have a hurricane.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to handle the l1/l2 missions :) The Coercer character will be the salvager.

My god do Caldari have hideous looking ships. Amarr and Gallente look so much better.

Not sure why people are ganking already. Technically it is saturday in parts of the world, I'm not sure how the Hulkageddon directors are counting kills if it's still Friday in the USA?

Good time for me to put the boys to cook on some skills for a bit and finish up the new zones in WoW.

My main is working on general missile skills and then will be pimping his HML skills (for nighthawk / tengu awesomeness).
2 alts are working on caldari bs 5 and then will move on to working on weapons up grade / AWU 5 in order to pave the way to marauders.
Last dude is working on perfect tengu skills.

Woot.

I just bumped up to a quality 6 L2 agent from my qual -17 agent. Going to see how far up I can get his faction this weekend. Local chat should be entertaining.

I laughed so hard. Death of a Thousand Cuts applied to EVE.

496 Exhumers, 281 mining barges, 162 industrials and a handful of orcas, freighters and assorted ships have felt the bite of Hulkageddon.
Right now the leaders in the contest are TheHermit and Burseg Sardaukar who are in a close race for first prize!
The forums are full of QQ

I've noticed hardly anyone targeting miners in mission space/wormholes for the most part as there are sooooo many targets in the static belts. I'm giving some thought to picking up a couple of retrievers tonight to start collecting some of these rocks I keep running into in missions. I'm assuming prices will only go up, especially the week AFTER the event is over.

Hulkageddon doesn't seem to have much effect on mineral prices, mostly it seems to pump up the prices for Hulks

Welp, hulkageddon is in the bag. Noticed a LOT more system traffic (industrials, transports) today. :P

And the retrievers are definitely a huge improvement over Ospreys. Much less micromanagement and range on the miners is very nice.

Wait until you finally get your Exhumers, you'll be seriously impressed

It just takes AGGGEEEESSSSS! to get Exhumers. Another 3/4 weeks for me. But then i will have 9 Mackinaws for Ice Mining phase 1 :D! Will prob leave them as Ice miners while I train up the other skills for max mining. Will eventually have 9 hulks, an Orca and a Dominix to control all the drones for rats (drone assist makes things interesting :))

Yeah skilling up for ice before ore is well worth doing, it's much quicker to be an ice miner than an ore miner

Edit - I wrote 'ice ming' when posting, which reminded me of this (NSFW!): http://oglaf.com/snowqueen/

I'm not going to mine until next week, if you look in the HAG4 channel people are still in highsec targetting miners.

Can your guys fit a decent tank, that seems to make a difference - not in that you can't be ganked but more in that they'll choose the easiest target

OK, question for you folks: I'm using a Badger 2 for transporting of ore from mining site to base at the moment.

[edit] I'm looking at a Bustard as my next hauler option. Is that the best route since I'm already heavily into Caldari Industrial? As a follow-up, what's the preferred hauler I'd want to look at after that assuming I didn't want to bother with an orca?

[edit] Obviously, this guy will just be a dedicated ore ferry for my 4 miners.

Deep Space Transport is kind of a dead end for ore hauling.

The only things with bigger cargo holds are capital ships like the Orca, freighters, carriers and so on. Of those only the Orca and freighters can be used in hisec, and only the Orca can open a can (freighters can't access cans AFAIK).

So that's it, for ferrying ore in hisec the Orca is the only option that's bigger than a deep space transport. If you go lowsec/nullsec you could use a carrier or a Rorqual instead - but watch out for pirates!

Bestower (Amarr) is second best and the least skill intensive hauler. With all the upgrades on it you can get 26k m3.

The Iteron V (Gallente) is the best hauler. Gets ~50k m3 with all upgrades. After that, as said before, the Orca is on the top.

I'm actually training for my Iteron V right now on my Amarr character, even though I already have a Bestower. Good to have an Iteron V laying around, even if you have an Orca.

I'm going to get a freighter just for shits and giggles, in case I want to haul a large amount of ore or minerals somewhere.

Well, I'm sitting at 18700m3 in my Badger 2 and my Bustard will be about 30000m3 or thereabouts. Looking at the forums, they're saying the best alternative is the Mammoth if you don't want to go through training GI5 for the Iteron V. I'll look around some more tonight. My Badger 2 can keep up fairly easily with my 4 retrievers if I'm in the same system and not too far from jump points, and that's with <19km3. The 30km3 in the Bustard should be plenty for what I'm usually going to be doing. I'm not planning to train for hulks anytime soon as I'm working on the skills for L3/L4 missions.

Most of what I'll be doing is high-sec mission-pocket mining, not the usual belt stuff.

My bad, forgot about the tardbus. I'm stuck in my little Amarr world over here. And yes, that will be more than adequate for retrievers.

But you'll definitely want to get Hulks asap, they will speed up the roid eating process quite a bit.

Aren't hulks going for 700million each these days? Maybe I was looking at the wrong data but if 700m is right, that seems like a crazy investment at my current income levels. :p

Damn, Hulks shouldn't be more than 190-225m last I checked. Give it a few weeks to level out after Hulkageddon. Your probably looking at inflated( ballooned ) prices :(

My bad. I must have been thinking about some other ship. They're going for 180-190mil in my list here. :p

I find that a freighter is invaluable to haul a month's worth of minerals from where I mine to a trade hub, otherwise you just end up selling at whatever price you can get rather than optimising.

I didn't realise the Iteron V could manage 50km3 I've mostly used Mammoths (without rigs of course).

Hulks are one of the exceptions to the usual T2 pricing becasue there are a number of Hulk BPOs out there owned by very rich players. One of the reason Hulkageddon is so popular is because some of the big prizes are funded by the Hulk BPO owners looking to make a profit.

I'd think that the market turnover for Hulks is going to be fairly low most of the time as once someone has a Hulk they tend not to lose them (fingers crossed). Thus encouraging a campaign of destroying Hulks would make very good sense.

I checked the prices of Hulks before and after HAG and did not notice a fluctuation. Tritanium has gone up quite a bit though.

Last night I could've sold my Tritanium for 3.20, but it would have required 3 trips of 2 jumps in my Bestower. Not worth the effort, so I just sold it for 2.80. 4mil isk hit, not too bad...but once I get large amounts I believe it will be worth the trip, by then I should have an Orca.

You can get an Iteron V to 50km3 but it'll be paper thin so I wouldn't transport anything valuable in it.
