View Full Version : Cata - Ulduar - 5 Boxing

Hello all,

I've stoped playing wow in march last , but I'm back once again :-)
At the moment I'm just playing solo because I don't have enough time yet to start boxing again (with my pala + 4 shaman team).
But that'll change in a month or something, so I'm already starting to ponder on what i'm going to do when I hit 85 :-)

Ofcourse I'm going to try to do some heroics and gear up and stuff, but I also love to do old content.
And with cata out, it looks like a lot of old content is boxable like BT, Onixyia, ...
But I haven't seen any topics about Ulduar. And this was my favorite raid in Wotlk so I was thinking if this could be done!?

Here's the list of bosses and some comments on what I think can or can't be done:

The Siege of Ulduar

Flame Leviathan (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33113)
- I have no idea on how to do this one.. this could be a major setback because if I always have to call in a friend whenever I want to do Ulduar.. could suck. Any idea's on this one?

Ignis the Furnace Master (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33118)
- Don't think this one will be a problem at all, all casters in the middle, tank him at the water, deal with the adds,...

Razorscale (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33186)
- Tank & Spank and burst him down as soon as he lands.

XT-002 Deconstructor (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33293)
- Tank & Spank and ignore the adds?

The Antechamber of Ulduar

Assembly of Iron (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32857)
- No idea if this can be done at all without 2 tanks.. Maybe with 4 elementals out tanking 1 or 2 of the bosses and burning the third one down?

Kologarn (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32930)
- Don't think this one will be too hard aswell, not sure how much dmg those beams do, if it's not too much, just ignore and burn him down

Auriaya (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33515)
- Shouldn't be a pain, just stack dps + healer behind the tanks, tremor totem, ignore the adds.

The Keepers of Ulduar

Freya (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32906)
- Can't remember this fight like the rest, but I think this shouldn't be too hard if you handle the adds + run to the mushrooms.

Hodir (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32845)
- Free the npc's, burn him down while jumping once in a while to avoid too much stacks of the debuff, all run to the frost spots when they hit and you'll be fine.

Mimiron (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33350)
- don't think this fight will be too hard with ranged dps, but haven't done this boss a lot.

Thorim (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32865)
- This one will be impossible? You have to split your group in 2, but how? Any idea's on this one? Because this is driving me insane :P

The Descent into Madness

General Vezax (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33271)
- Havn't done him

Yogg-Saron (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33288)
- Havn't done him

Celestial Planetarium

Algalon the Observer (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32871)
- Havn't done him

Thats my 2 cents about these bosses, now I would like to hear yours :-)

Just some speculation for what I remember
One vehicle in each corner he should change target before he reaches any of them
I would worry about the repair bots they do heal him and you will want to be careful not to kill the heart in phase 2 and push him into hard mode this will reset the fight. and cause more.
Iron Council
I would say you will want a friend here a lot going on in that fight, not saying it is impossible but will pose a big challenge for a 5 boxer. but a lot of the stuff that would kill you at 80 may not hurt as bad with the larger health pools. I just don't know if they are large enough
The arena adds will enter the tunnel should they be left alone, so you could just take your group into the tunnel and pick the adds up in between the mini's
The little adds blow up when they die and at 80 3 or 4 of them would kill any plate but this maybe avoided with health pools but again not sure if they will be large enough
The ele adds the lasher gains a buff which will cause him to hit harder and the water add will bounce all around the room and causes a knock back and these three have to die with in like 10- 15 secs of each other,
then you will need to deal with the tree of life once all of the add phases are done as it will heal her.
once you start the fight you should be able to switch to one of your dps as he doesn't have to move but the dps will need to to avoid shadow crashes, but mostly a tank and spank.
Phase one leave the tank at the bottom and run it from one of your dps so as not to spawn to many adds from the floating green stuff but the tank may get one as it will spawn on her as well
but once sarah is down
Phase 2 brain phase
having a friend might help not sure what will happen if everyone goes into the brain room but that is the only way to get him to phase 3 and there are these tentacle things that spawn and will need to die out side,
phase three Final phase
as churn and burn, you will have more faceless horrors to deal with and keeping track of your last bit of sanity but with the keepers up sanity shouldn't hurt to bad I wouldn't think but you never know, it is his last 25% of health
I would not even think about him with out more than one tank, it was an extreme heal intensive fight in in T8 and just a little less extreme in T9.
no ideas on that one
Like I said this is just from what I remember, so if you take on this task I want some video or SS's of it as most of what I remember was a pain with 10 so 5 will be epic.

I wonder if you can survive algalons aoe with today's health pools. I can't remember how much it hit for though.
