My 2v2 team is 53-30 for the season and my rating is only 1498. Does that seem messed up to you guys or is that normal?

Depends on the ratings that your opponents had. If you lose 30 times against teams that are 200-300 rating lower then you you lose a lot of points. And if you online win on teams that are 200-300 rating lower then you, you don't get a lot of points.
But i've always found it strange aswell. I had 1500 rating some seasons ago and had like 120-105. And some teams had 2000 rating and had like 65-25.
Kind regards,

On my other team that was 1353 I just played a team that was 1735 and they got 96 points vs my 1353 team. I think arena is messed up this week.

The way it works is like this:
If your team rating is under 1300 or so, you get like 90 points for every win, regardless of your opponents.
Once you get above 1300 you get a lot fewer points for a win and the MMR is what matters to calculate the points you get.
So if you beat teams that are much lower MMR you get like 2 points for a win.
If you lose to a team that has lower MMR you lose like 20 points.
So it's all about the MMR. After every game look what MMR your opponents have and compare it with yours.
If you want to get higher faster you just have to play a lot of games so that you run into higher rated teams, but you have to beat them to actually go up.

How does that explain the 96 points the 1700 MMR team got against my 1300 team?

The 96 points is the real points they gain, not their hidden MMR. So let's say their MMR is 1735, they could be a new team with a real rating around 500, so the system will give their real rating a 96 point jump while in reality their MMR probably only moved 5-10 points.

I'm repeating the first line I wrote in my previous post :)
If your team rating is under 1300 or so, you get like 90 points for every win, regardless of your opponents.
So the 1700 team that beat you is a new team, and their TEAM rating is under 1300 or so, but their MMR is 1700. MMR is invisible, you only see it after a game.

Yea, looks like he is getting mmr mixed up with rating. Which makes me wonder why there are not more visible options after the match is over. Like rating, and maybe somewhere where you can inspect your opponent.

"armory" ? :D
The armory system indeed seems to function very wierd at times. We can only asume that it "works as intended" with good intentions.

Should I make a new team? Last week and this week my 2v2 is 23-6. I am kicking ass but not getting anything in return. I see other teams with a higher team rating and they are almost equal win and loss ratios. How is it fair those teams can earn more conquest points per week and I can only win the default amount? Maybe I should scrap the team and make a new one. The majority of my losses are a month old when I first started it.

Doesn't hurt to try that.
You could even add a new toon to the team.
To preserve the name, and give the option to return to it if you like.
And then move your toons to a new team.
