What PVP Rift Server on Release? - Lotham Guardian [Archive]

Lotham seems to be winning, post if you have issues with Lotham Guardian.

Just wanted to start a thread to figure out what server we are all going to play on. And what side hehe.

Lets get a consensus going so I know where to start on the 24th.

The headstart is 24th

We might need to have two threads to make it easier to keep track. one for PvP servers and one for PvE. Since you started this thread, why don't you edit it to say " Rift PvE server thread", or PvP if thats your thing and ill do the other. It will be easier to sort out who's going to what type of server that way. Also it will be hard to decide until we have a complete launch server list.

I play on Snarebrush (US PvP) for Beta. Are they keeping the same number of servers with the same name on release?

I've been doing beta on DeepStrike, but would love an answer on this.

We have 9 days to decide which four servers to invade - two for PVE and two for PVP so people can decide which server type to play on and whether we play Guardian or Defiant.

Here's a list of the servers, however, it doesn't make the distinction between PVE and PVP:

Mosg2, Void and I are all on Lotham PvP in beta, and it seems good. We are guardians.

I think guardians will be better, as with WoW, more pvp players will go horde / defiant making queues much longer, and I prefer instant queues :)

Defiant have cooler racials, though.. imo

Been playing bards today, someone that can handle 5 boxing, try them out and let me know. From playing 4, i cleared a rift and lost a few pets. I do not have maxed healing via cadence yet though. Im thinking 5 bards will simply own! 5 was just way to laggy for me.

For souls you want a bard.( primary) .ranger for pet ( no points spent,,pet is baseline) and nightbaldes lower tier soul points up the DPS of your cadence, thus your healing.

what I found terribad about bards is that they don't scale on dex. They seem to scale on spell power so you'll have to wear cloth... hoping they change that. We still need to consensus on the servers though.

I'm up for guardian and instant que, though world pvp could be a little rough if we are overwhelmed.

I met another 5-boxer on Lotham last night, with the main MsWrathy, and alts MsXXXX.

Hope they don't mind me dropping their name :)

He was playing some sort of Cleric class.

I tried 5 bards. The heal from Cadence x5 is completely OP at lower levels. MsWrathy informed me it tapers off and loses viability at higher levels, as he/she also tried Bards.

MsWrathy mentioned trying 8 points in Bard (I'm thinking 10 in at least 1 to get run speed buff) for Cadence Heal and the rest in Marksmen for the Ranged damage. We'll see.

Someone mentioned Bard abilities are magic and scale with Spell Power. This makes is difficult to effectively combine bard abilities with other Soul abilities, as I have yet to see any leather gear with spell power.

Well, work sucks. I can't wait to get home and try out the Rogues more! I'm going to try leaving them at 8-12 Bard points (Run Speed + Motif).

I'm in for RIFT, won't be boxing out the gate though.

Pick a PvE server for us boxers and I'll beg my RL friends to join us all there.

I vote for Belmont PvE, really don't care what side... Guardian if I was forced to choose.

Lokked, as far as i know, bard abilities are spells but use attack power/dex/str for damage. let me look it up. Also, how high did he get his bards,, did he spend his points right in the other souls. I updated the main post with Lotham - pvp guardian (assuming shards stay the same name/status)

for those going PVE, i'd recommend going defiant in case there are any contested zones as the zerg will allow you to quest/dungeon in peace... mostly.

Those were the beta servers. They will put a list out soon. Devs said some servers will change ( names/types ) don't count on anything until the give a list. They are kind of down to the wire. If they do not put it out today, thats only one day notice..kind of lame 8\

That is not to say that they may change their mind and keep the same server names and types though.

hehe, i know you guys will have a blast. Its not about being able to deal with gankers or having ways to get back at them. For me, I just like to choose when i PvP. If I'm questing, i don't want anyone to break that up for even a moment. But someday i might make a team over there just to hang out with you guys 8)

I attempted to log in a 10:03 and I was ~500th in line with a wait time of 42mins.

Now (at 10:34) I'm 320th in line with a wait time of 1.5 hours!

With how slow its moving now, I'm thinking it's basing the capacity off the Starting Area Instances. I might have to wait until people actually complete the starting area :(

I don't know what it's basing it on, but my second account was logged in at maybe 10:02 with a wait time of 39 minutes initially. Then that wait time went to over two hours, then to 15 minutes for a while and now an hour and 40 minutes.

yea once server is stable and we are all on we can get in a raid and decide what we want name to be ect. I got to lvl 3 then froze up logged back on to another 2 hour wait. ill play more in the AM after work less people then!

So at the least, I'm going to start a trial team up on Kaleida.

So far, i see a hell of a lot of defiants lol. been pwnd quite a few times but mostly near their base. Quest area i didn't realize was 50 yards from there base in scarlet gorge.

I'm playing more on Lotham than on Kaleida.

Kaleida has no queue, sure, but it also has no players, hence no Major Rifts OR Invasions, hence no Rare/Epic Sourcestone, HENCE NO GEAR!

Kaleida's pretty boring, basically.

There may be queues, but think about when they subside. You're going to be on a nicely populated PvP server with a healthy
amount of people to do world PvP with both on your faction and the other. The only reason this would be totally untrue is if Trion
had let one of the factions become totally unbalanced at launch, which I have a feeling they didn't. If you guys decided on a server
for launch you should definitely try to stick to it instead of some people ducking off to another lower populated server. A few
months from now, those that went off and started elsewhere may regret not being with the rest of the original crew who are
getting all that sexy world PvP. Then again, I could be totally out of my mind and Lotham may end up being garbage 4 months
down the road.

Either way, it is a gamble... but you guys should definitely stick together and suck up those queue times [I realize they are killer
right now], I believe the benefits of having all of the PvP boxers on one server would be a lot more fun and quite a force to be
reckoned with.

Most of us (i think?) are using Innerspace to launch the game from a single computer.

I bet using LavishScript we could write an "app" to log us in automatically at a certain time, say an hour before playtime. Does this make us cewters?
