After all the numerous threads we've been posting on the RIFT beta forums we have finally gotten an answer
from the Senior CM on the topic. The verdict is that multiboxing is allowed (http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?66313-Trion!-Your-stance-on-Multiboxing-Thousands-of-potential-customers-need-to-know!&p=1043554&viewfull=1#post1043554).

That seems dicey.

"...as long as all accounts are run manually." - indicates what?

But then:

"As of now, there are no restrictions or rules against multi-boxing." - indicates we can do whatever the hell we want when it comes to multiple accounts??

Oh well. I might just take this knowledge and go ahead with 5 accounts.

This still doesn't seem as clear as Blizzards stance, wherein as long as actions on multiple toons are initiated by a manual keypress it is fine. I'm somewhat interested in this game but after biting the hyped up turd that was Star Trek Online I think I'll wait to see how its doing six months after release.

Depends on how you read manual.

With a boxing software, you're manually (not pressing a key now, and getting a result later) controlling everything.
Every single action in game, is a direct result of a user input at the time of the action.

Should probably ask that specifically.

sounds to me like "just don't be afk and don't automate anything. OH, and don't be griefing people or abusing things and we won't care".

Basically what I read.

There was a Rift related IS Boxer patch this morning.
It is in the game wizard now.

Not sure on the features or whatever.
I'd guess most of the software side stuff would be the same as for other games.
But not sure what the game side supports.

So, I don't check these forums often, but I know one of the developers for this game. We're both members of a gaming meta-group that branches across multiple MMO's. He got a group of us into the Beta, and I speak with him rather often. If you all need someone to get the information directly from inside sources (since I see there are still questions floating around in here) just give me a shout.

Clarity on using ISBoxer type software to control characters in Rift would be nice. The wording of Abigale left that part up in the air. So i press one key, that key gets sent to all my clients, i cast fire ball x5 at the same time>> will i be banned?

Yeah, I'd interpret that as 'you using a keyboard counts as manual input, so a broadcasting software that magnifies that manual input is fine'

It's the same vague response that any MMO company gives. Also, you can cast 5 Fireballs at the same time w/o software like
ISBoxer. Whether using software or hardware, multiboxing requires manual input [SEE WHAT I DID THERE?].
