My 1st mixed group

I like reading about other people's group comps so i thhought i might as well post some of mine. My highest group is currently 71. Im running:

Prot paladin
Cat druid
Fire mage
Demon lock
Holy priest

The nice things about this group:
Three classes capable of healing and rezzing
Easiest tank to box
Best healer in the game
Portals
Soulstones
Decent aoe when needed

Bad things?
Ummmm... I cant think of any, reallyl i guess if i had to make up something id say i cant use mail drops. Also, wotlk quests in borean tundra dont have shit for paladins!! But this group comp is lots of fun.

This is exactly what I wanted to do for my second team, except the druid as a boomkin. Although I would like to get to Northrend with my 1pally4shaman team first. :) Your allstar rouge team on the other post seems fun, but hope it doesn't get frustrating!

My druid was a boomkin. I wasn't using a 2-step macro or managing the eclipse stuff. When I switched to cat, the druid's dps more than doubled. I'll keep the kitty. ^_^

This team is 73.5 now and i am having lots of fun with it. Today i completed the first two started instances in wotlk. I forget the name of the viking type one but the other was called The Nexus. I did both because i had quests for them.

I had tried the viking one at 70 and got slaughtered by the melee/caster duo bosses. With quest gear from the two starter zones, it was very easy.

Im still loving my holy priest with a click healing Grid/Clique setup. I wish Grid didnt show pets since you cant directly heal them anymore, but oh well. I do not have the priest do any damage whatsoever because i dont want her to be casting holy fire or something when i need a heal. Also, i like to cultivate the habit of saving healer mana for oh shit moments. I use a druid in my second highest team and the priest is so much better. Lightwell is great to have for bosses.

The paladin tank can really take a beating and has many oh shit abilities to self heal when things go horribly wrong.

The druid continues to do great damage in cat form and i dont even bother to use stealth or pounce.

The demon lock does good dependable dps with a felguard.

The fire mage actually does the lowest overall damage even though i cast every instant pyro proc he gets.

The paladin is usually racing the druid for overall damage. I micromanage the paladin though since thats the toon i drive the group from.

The damage rankings im talking about come from instances. When questing and killing normal mobs the paladin does the highest damage by far since i pull everything or initiate combat from her. Then its usually the mage in second.

I tried using those huge 2-step macros someone posted on here but i must not have deleted all the /focus and /assist lines because they wouldnt work on the paladin but they did on the others. Oh well.

I may post some Recount data and my macros on here to get advice on fine tuning this combo at 80.

boomkins can do well with a 1 step macro, if you talent them correctly. The number of starfire and wrath needed to move across eclipses is set and easy to manage if you dont spec for <that talent name i can't seem to remember> .. sunfire?

there were a few posts on that. mainly from Mercurio from memory.
Havent't played my moonkin in a little while, but that change was definitely an nice improvement when cata arrived.

This would allow you to forget about range and placement which can be annoying with melee slaves.

This team is 74 now. It continues to be fun. Wotlk does not. Id love to skip this expansion. So many freaking gathering quests. I skip them all. So far it hasnt caused a problem. Im hoping that continues to be the case. I just realized these are my highest toons ever now. I quit during wotlk after getting to 73.

I have NO tradeskills on anyone yet and my AH toon has so many green drops i have pages and pages of junk backed up for when i make an enchanter. I really need to get around to it. Stuff is starting to get automatically returned by the mail system.

I said earlier borean tundra doesnt have paladin quest rewards. Thats true but the other starting wotlk zone does. In the future i will start there if im using a paladin tank or healer. I will start in boring tundra if im using a warrior or dk tank.

I did Nexus again on this team after completing starrting zone 2. It was a lot easier this time, for some reason. Possibly because i had caster plate instead of warrior/dk plate. I only wiped once and it was because i forgot to keep jumping during the dragon fight. I wiped repeatedly the first time i finished the nexus.

The holy priest continues to be awesome. I read some article on wow insider about disc priest nerfs and pwshield costing more mana. I never cast shields so i havent noticed a difference. I just keep reneew on the tank, keep prayer of mending bouncing, use circle of healing when more than one toon takes a touch of damage, and use binding heal as my main noninstant heal, greater heal as my second. I rarely use that spell that sprouts wings i usually forget about it. I frequently use lightwell. I use it before pulling packs with multiple casters (since i dont cc with this group yet) and always before starting on a boss. So far i never ever drink or eat. Not out questing or while doing instances. Unless i wipe and have a ss up.

My cat druid and demo lock do the best overall damage in instances. The fire mage still does half the overall damage of the lock and i swear i use every instant pyro proc. I also started using dragons breath and cone of cold to try upping the mage's overall damage. I put those abilities on the same buttons as my paladin's aoe abilities instead of macroing them. The mage used to be number one overall. Either ive refined the others better or the mages rotation is bad. I cant seem to ever get any fire dots to spread like theyre supposed to. I have a pyro in the mage rotation and several fire blasts. I also cast every instant pyro.

Why arent the fire spec dots spreading??

Next level i get to start buying crazy Cata greens off the AH. I saw some 77 greens but very very few.

Been having so much fun ive kept running this team. I just did some instance where portals spawn in one big room and bosses get released from cells. The last was a dragon. Its in dalaran.


Ive been doing these noncollection dailies:
Kill ten horde units or players - grizzly hills - 22k
Shoot down 8 gargoyles - forgot zone name - 20k?
Bomb 25 pirates - same -22k
Bomb 20 eggs - skettis 10-12k
Escort prisoner - skettis 10-12k

I wish i knew more dailies!

The whole Ebon Hold chain, takes you most of the way from 77th to 80th.
There's a bit of phased stuff, but it isn't too bad.

Also, you open up 16 or 17 dailies, from the chain.
Which total 30-35% of 80th to 81st.

I've got a daily guide, my interpretation of the route originally made by Chilkoot.
Basically, go here take this.
Go to this location and do that.
Etc.

This team is 85 now. I spent 5% of 83 and about 50% of 84 at zengas infinite grind spot in deepholm. In the future i will go there and probably do 82-84 then head to uldum or twilight highlands once hitting 84. 84 is just too long to stand in one spot for 10 hours. That spot will give 10% of 84 per hour of grinding, which is around 900k per hour. if you dont need embersilk cloth or shitty 81-82 greens then dont waste time looting. Your xp/hr will be higher that way.

My next highest team is led by a dk and is only 75. I laid off the other teams because my now-85 team was progressing so quickly once i hit 80. The latter 70s seemed to take forever the last time. :(

As far as this level 85 team, NOW WHAT? I dont know what to do next. I cant raid because i never know when or how long i can play. I didnt complete a single 80+ instance on this team. What i really need is gold to pay for epic flight speed fifty times. =/
