So I tried out a boss that has been changed with my melee team. Grand Vizier Ertan will rip you apart if you stay in during his Summon Tempest ability (pulls the tornados in). Do not stay in for this or you will be in for a rude awakening. I was unable to defeat this guy on heroic due to the frequency that he calls in the tornados. When strafing out I still took quite a bit of damage and was unable to heal that up before the next Tempest. Slowly he killed off my team while I spammed Prayer of Healing.

I imagine this wont be so tough for caster teams. Just move your guys halfway between Ertan and the radius for his Tornados. When he does a summon you shouldnt take too much damage, however the debuff is a bitch.

Anyone else got some updates for boxers for bosses that have changed?

Good to know, thanks for posting this. VP has been one of my "go to" heroics. On the positive side, it sounds like if you can get past Ertan, the second boss has been nerfed heavily.

For Ertan fight, I actually let the healer and dps stand close to the whirlwind, as far from boss as possible. Have the feeling that the damages from the winds are lesser when they move to boss, and you are further away. I just move the tank in and out. The fight seems all right in this way, with no healing issue.

Ya, this is one of the few bosses my melee team could do, before the changes. Now I need a new strat!

As you run out, don't let the cyclones touch you, they put a slowing debuff on you that also slows attacks / casting. If you can avoid that, the fight is pretty easy.

I just did this with pala and four shaman.

Resto shaman for tons of passive healing, stood on the outside rim of the circle. Paladin tank on other side keeping watch for the storm tempests, running back to shaman for a group hug when the shield comes in. Oh and some chain healing.

All resto shaman made it a longer fight - but when my toons average 329.. i'll take what i can

I just did this on my DK/4 ret team tonight. If you completed before with melee, you shouldn't have many issues. The key is to have each of your guys dpsing at the max range of melee and they won't eat the knockback.

What I do is put my team in a pentagram all the way around him before the fight, then hit IWT once and spam dps key. This makes them face about every direction so that the mario mini bosses won't eat you up.

For the life of me I just cannot get this fight now, previously I had no problem with this. I am running a Pally+4Shammy team. I spread my guys out in a diamond formation, with them pretty much on the edge of the circle, and IWT to get them to face the boss. I run my tank out when the shield comes in, but something just eats up my shammies, and i can't keep up on healing. I can usually last 1 or 2 phases of the shield, but eventually 1 guy will drop, and then it's just a matter of time. I'm in a mix of 333/346 gear with 3 359 rep items on each shammy. I have 1 shammy resto for dedicated healing.

You making sure all the tempests are in view so that they don't start taking pot shots at your crew?

I did it with lesser gear as four resto shaman. I used ele x 3 + resto for all trash mob, then switched just for this boss.

To Johalak,

Is your team too far apart that they can't aoe heal?

I don't spread them out in a formation. The healer and dps grouped together, followed the tank in, stopped just inside the circle formed by the tornadoes. I then turn the healer around to face away from the boss. This more or less covers the view of most area in the fight zone, if not all. Did not encounter any tempest appearing from the side.

Good luck, and happy hunting in wow.
