I have a dell 24inch lcd and I am running 3 wows at the moment. I am about to expand to 5 boxing and I am considering a second 24inch lcd. I have about 5 old CRT monitors at home. Ranging from 15inch to 17inch. It would be a huge clutter to use the crt as the second monitor. But I would save about $375. I am not tight on money so I am considering getting a second 24inch and putting the 4 alts on it and the main on the other. What do you guys suggest?

2nd 24" - Even if it's the E-series, it'll be a lot nicer on the desk than a 15" or 17" CRT. I considered using my old 22" Mitsubishi 2060u CRT in 2048x1536, but came to my senses and ordered another 24" Ultrasharp from Dell.

I have the ultrasharp now and I am sorta scared to order the E for $375 after reading a review. One customer has the ultra and says its night and day vs the E. I dont really want to pull the trigger on a second ultra cause thats pretty high dollar. Sigh,

That review on the E is true - my roommate has the E and bought the 2407 Ultrasharp a few months ago.. the difference is huge. He regrets not spending the extra $200 since the monitors don't look at all the same for color, contrast, or viewing angle. You have to look dead-on at the E-series to have a clean picture, and even then it doesn't compare to the Ultrasharp. That swayed me to buy a 2nd Ultrasharp instead of the E. Since I play other games that I don't multibox on, I like having a large monitor. If I were designing a machine primarily for WoW multboxing, I'd probably go with the 3x 19" 1280x1024 monitors using a TripleHead2Go.

However, if someone has never used an Ultrasharp, I suspect that they'd think $375 for the E-series is a fantastic monitor at the price.

The Ultrasharp 24 is on dells website for $699 right now :( . This is a nice 22inch that has great reviews for performance but only cost around the $300 mark. HP w2207 LCD monitor. I'm not ready to spend $700, and if the difference is that drastic on the e series I cannot do that either. Time to start researching LCD performance.

Ouch.. they had the 24" Ultrasharp for $579, the 24" E-series for $375, and a few 22"'s for $100 off just last week. Wait a month or so and the discount will be back.. they rotate the discounts on various models every few weeks.

yeah, keep checking the Dell site. They rotate offers every 2-4 weeks. I bought my 24" Ultrasharp a year ago, and it was $650 with free shipping.

If the CRT had been a 19" or 21" I'd say go with that but 15"/17" is only of much use as a doorstop. IMO

You should definitely buy one of my old CRT's and use that. I'm quite sure of it.
