Feel free to have good look at the http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki (link top left of this page) that should answer most of your questions.
When you have more specific ones, come back again :-)

Hi sadiepies,

I am new to, and I started a few days back. People are great here, and even kind enough not to flame when there are starter questions that has been asked a lot.

To answer your questions a little:

For class choices please visit the specific forum (which is great and fun to read!): Multiboxing Group Composition Discussion (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31)

As far as I can gather the cookie cutter template is or use to be 1 x Paladin and 4 x Shaman for some real fun and easy intro to multi boxing.

As for the software (and this is a personal opinion) if you are going for long term multi boxing, go with ISBoxer and Innerspace by visiting ISBoxer.com and signing up there for the 7 day trial.

I tried Keyclone, but in my humble opinion, I think Keyclone would rock more when you have 5 of the same class, and just want to pew pew. But again, this is very subjective, and I say ISBoxer hands down, as far as I can judge.

Welcome to the forums!

sadiepies,

I would suggest, have fun for a few levels at the start without worrying about the inner workings of ISBoxer.

Follow the quick setup guide in the youtube video below and also read the linked starter guide for a light introduction:

If you want any of the advanced things, you pretty much need HKN (free) or IS Boxer (subscription). Keyclone (one-time license per computer that lasts forever) has all of the basics but is missing a lot of the advanced stuff.

IS Boxer and HKN will let you mouse broadcast, which is important if you want to aim Hurricane/Force of Nature/Blizzard/Flame Strike/Death & Decay etc. The mouse broadcasting is good for selecting talents or clicking portals.

IS Boxer has a small learning curve. Once you understand how the pieces work, it's pretty easy to figure out (or ask and interpret someone's instructions) on how to accomplish something. The wizard gets you automatic FTL assist, which is the best assist method.

All three products have excellent support, both from the users here and the authors. KC has a 24 hour trial, IS Boxer has a 7 day trial and HKN is free.

If you don't plan on doing the mouse broadcasting Keyclone has all of the basics. You'll probably go with a Focus or Target based assist, which is workable. You can set up an FTL assist with KC, but its a bit confusing. You can round-robin, blacklist, whitelist keys etc. It has most of the features that you would want.

If you want a bit more, HKN is free if you're comfortable with scripts (altering the example script or eventually writing your own), or IS Boxer has the toolkit with a wizard and lots of examples.

Lax has written a quick start guide for isboxer: http://isboxer.com/index.php/guides/80-quick-start-guide
And there's a guide in my signature too.

Be sure to take advantage of the Recruit a Friend feature (RAF).

lots of great information here on these forums and also on the Wikki,
run as many class types as possible to 60 through the RAF this will give you a lot of growing room in the end,

You'll need retail or digital versions of the game.
Not sure that you can Paypal for either or not.
Walmart would definitely be an option, if you needed a retail copy.

For RAF...
You start one account.
And then in account management with that one account, you send an RAF invite to your own email address.

Using the code that is included in that email, you create a new (2nd account).
Once the account has been created, you upgrade it with a digital upgrade or retail code.

Then go into the 2nd account, and send yourself an RAF invite.
Use the mailed code to create account three.
Etc, repeat the process for all five.

For RAF to get you a bonus...
You need to be RAF linked, your account to another account.
Characters on the linked accounts have to be in the same group.
And they need to be within +/- 4 levels of each other.
And to be level 59 or lower.
And for the mobs/quests to be green or better for everyone (not greyed out).
When you meet the requirements, you get +200% (300% of the normal experience, for killing mobs or completing quests).
So your 1st to 60th leveling is very fast.
And you can level a lot of characters in the three months of Recruit a Friend.

Also, when the recruited account pays for its first month.
The referring account gets a free month.
And when it pays for the second month.
The referring account gets a rocket mount, which is a two-seater.

And for every even level the referred account gains.
It can give a level (to a lower level toon) on the referring account.
So if your chain is: A > B > C > D > E
And you level four toons during RAF.
B can give two toons (to 60th) on A.
Same for C to B, D to C and E to D.
And they even cascade.
B gets two from C, and can give one more to A, etc.

Grats! always good to see successes.

I was a bonehead. I got the last of the RAF accounts botched up. And two of the 5 accounts were not receiving XP bonus gains. I still have 2 of my 5 man team as level 46. : /

Yay, Team BoneHead.
