This is such great news and i don't know if its old news and i just found out about it or what, but I've decided to make a new thread and share it with you all as its quite literally going to transform the way i box from now on.

To start the story I was playing on my TBC account level 70 priest pvping as thats all I like to do on her, I was fed up of levelling my shaman who are all 84 and no matter how many quests I or pvp i do the dam blue xp bar doesn't even move. So onto my priest, I knowticed a very nicely geared DK, then i knowticed she had some pve items as not all the level 70 pvp gear is currently available in game untill the next patch. I thought to myself what a waste that DK will only get to use that for abit in the 70's bracket before she dings out of it and that gear gets replaced, its a bit like too much work for a level 70 even if your trying to twink the bracket.

So I asked her what made her want to put all that time and effort running Sunwell or Bt where ever it came from only to level up from the battleground xp and ding out of the bracket, i am aware that the bracket does extend to 74 btw but still seems kinda pointless one day you will be out.

She replied "I have my xp turned off"
I was like "hmm don't think so if you do that you cant join the normal pvp brackets to cut back on people twinking"
She went on to explain basically if your level 70 with it turned off it doesn't matter
I didn't believe her this was just too good to be true, so i just gave her a polite response of ok thanks. and continued to melt faces in AB.

After the game, we won btw but it was pretty close, I logged out of my TBC account and went onto my main account where i have a retired level 70 hunter, I went and turned off the XP and joined the pvp queue, the expected timer was 6 minutes, so I patiently sat there and waited. Much to my surprise at just under 5 minutes the pvp button popped and i joined, having not touched a hunter with the changed to focus i got trashed but it was still great to find that this was now an optional way for me to pvp.

I love pvp i make new class combinations all the time to test things out, that is probably why getting my shaman to 85 has been so slow, but anyway this new option to freeze xp at 70 is fantastic it means that using my higher level characters i can run my level 70s through TBC raid content gearing them up and just enjoy the pvp side of the game with everyone in equal gear. Theres no 3 weeks of solid grinding for pvp gear only to have it replaced next patch, this has the BIS that will ever be and everyone is wearing it, its like PVP dream balance. Rogues are op at 70 btw not balanced at all :p

But i seriously hope you get some use out of this as I definitely will.

Level 60-70 twinks have been pretty much where it's at for a while now. Basically because you could run all the old raids and have the best gear for your level. Even did it myself and must admit gearing up a level 60 or 70 in old raids is damn fun.

The brackets are now x0-x4 and x5 to x9.
So 70th, with exp off is the weakest character in their entire bracket for all battlegrounds.

The choice is:
- 59th with no Classic raid gear.
- 69th with no BC raid gear.
- 79th with no WotLK raid gear.
- 84th with no Cataclysm raid gear.

Or:
- 64th with greens and maybe a couple BC blues.
- 74th with some WotLK leveling gear and a few blues.
- 84th with 80k health, give or take but no new raid/pvp gear.

Raid Gear also equals PvP gear of that level.

Could still be a lot of fun.
But a level 74 in her bracket, will also have the same gear from 70 raids/pvp.
Plus anything they gained 71st-74th.
Plus more talents/spells/health/mana.

So what happens if you stop xp at 74?

So what happens if you stop xp at 74?

not sure i don't have a character around this level so i can't check it out, on the whole people saying that 70 would be the weakest in the bracket are wrong, the people level 71-74 are people in quested items ok they are wrath quested items but they don't compare to sunwell epics or the level 70 pvp epics. Also 95% of the players in the bracket 70-74 are level 70 anyway, you occasionally see the odd one or 2 higher and even on my priest I've had no problems taking down 74 feral druids.

I would imagine that turning your xp off at 74 would still let you join but i don't want to level a character to this level just to check it out.

So what if your friend, in full level 70 epic (PvP Gear or Sunwell Gear) decided to level to 74th.
That makes the raids to get the level 70 gear much easier, due to smaller threat ranges and larger damage from attacks.
It makes you four levels higher than all of the level 70's that you are competing against in your bracket, which is a substantial advantage in pvp.

And with your raid rewards and/or pvp honor you can still buy the level 70 gear and equip it.

How is a level 74 not stronger than a level 70, when the bracket is 70-74 and both have access to all of the gear that a 70 can use, but the 74 can access some level 71-74 items that the 70 cannot equip?

I would definitely consider the exp turned off.
But at x9th or x4th, in whatever bracket.
