I am currently in the market to replace my 19 incher that I have been boxing on for 2+ years. I really cant go the dual monitor route, so I was wondering what size solo monitor would be perfect to box 5-7 toons with? I use a standard 24 inch Dell at work, and figure that would be the minimum size i would want to buy. But is moving up to a 27 worth the $100-$130 increase?
And i see some come with TV tuner option, worth it?

I would suggest a 27" or 30" monitor for sure. I love my 30" monitors. They have higher resolution, which lets you fit more on the screen. I've had my 30" monitors for well over 5 years now, best computer investment I've made. I've probably gone through 3 computers, but was able to keep the same monitors.

I'm happy in the 23" - 24" monitors myself. I figure if you're going to add 3 inches and have the same resolution of 1920x1080, might as well just go all out and add 3 more inches and get a very sexy 30" monitor @ 2560x1600.

The wife would cut off my balls if I brought a 30" home. Jumping from a 27" for $350 to a 30" at $1100 is just too much more. Although that would be soooo nice.
How does this one look? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005142)

I would recommend the Dell ST2420L 24" . These are pretty nice monitors. I have purchased around 20 of these for my users at work and the people who have them absolutely love them. Matter of fact if you wait for a sale, you can pick these up for around $200. At that price you can practically purchase 2 for the price of one of those LG monitors.

Why can't you go Dual? These days you get a 22" for 100 euro. 2 of those are much more usefull then a 30" if you ask me.
I know I'll have a hard time going back to one monitor :D 2 just gives you so much more space to use.

Its the wife I metioned about earlier.....she is not big into computers and adding a second monitor might send her itno a tirade....lol. In her mind a bigger monitor is no problem, but having two monitors on the desk = computer addiction. lol

if you pick one of the more upmarket 27" screens the resolution is 2,560x1,440, but then they are over twice the cost (but cheaper than a 30")

There is only one thing to do.
Get a new wife, or get a projector for a ginormous screen. :)

I'm running on a 23" Dell monitor which is a nice size (2048x1152). I really like the Dell monitors. If you do go for one make sure to get their best one at a given size becasue they tend to do two versions at each size.

AWESOME! I was just looking at this monitor on Newegg yesterday and decided it was what I'm going to buy for my dream setup. Thank you so much for putting this info up, I'll be checking out the two nearby Costcos tomorrow!

30" all the way. You'll never regret it.
No help on the wife side of things. Explain to her that having something nice != computer addiction?

Up until they want a divorce, then they're out to get everything they can - your car, your house, your money, your pride.
