Greetings,

I've had this problem for a while, but thought I'd once again set out to find a solution.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64. Creative SB X-Fi. World of Warcraft.

If I open up two WoW clients, within a few short minutes of being active in both, the sound will hiss, pop, make disturbing high-pitched noises, and cause the entire client to lag/jump. Disabling the sound fixes it after a short bit, and one can re-enable the sound on both clients, but the problem will quickly recur again.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this? Other than keeping the sound off. :)

Much thanks.

Only happens when multiboxing?

Are the sound settings using hardware or os sound?

Correct. All other times sound is fine is performance, both inside the game and out.

Are the sound settings using hardware or os sound? In both clients the 'Use Hardware' option is unchecked.

I'm currently not using any multi-boxing related software. Sound drivers are the most recent according to Creative's site.

Does it happen if you only have one client sound on? One would think you might have a problem with the settings from one or the other, and you don't reallly need sound on on both :) yet try just one on and see what happens :)

That's a good question, I shall give that a shot.

The current case is different chars in different locs, not truly multi-boxing, so I would prefer having sound remain on for both, but this is a good test regardless.

Thanks!

And the answer to that is in fact no. With one client's sound completely disabled, prior to even starting the client, the other WoW client's sound still does the same high-pitched pop, screech, lag, etc.

Which is terribly interesting.
