Question about Vashir portal

I decided to do some of the starting quests in Vashir even after seeing the horror stories on my 84/85 shammies. They actually dinged 85 finally there. Anyhoo, I wanted to do enough quests to get the portal open to/from Orgrimmar, so I can have an easy way to get Volatile Waters when I need them (I have the other zone portals open already). I just completed the quest where you get the sea horse mount. Anyone know how far it is to unlock the portal?

I don't think you have to complete any quest to get the portal. I competely skipped it. Only did the "go to Vashj" quest. Then I saw it was water + gather to start with and HS'd out. Weeks later i needed the Earthen Ring Tabard. Said Quartermaster is in Vashj and the portal to Vashj just was there.

Ahh. I was wondering if it was like Twilight Highlands where you have to do some collection quests before a portal was created, and I didn't want to hearth out before I got past the instanced part.

Pro tip: Put 2 unused alts @ the summonstone @ the Throne of the Tides summonstone. Extremely usefull and might even make you some gold. Saw people offering 200g for a summon there. If you cba to relog... :D

You could get the portal when you get into the first cave - quest just after sea horse mount quest.

I only did up to the seahorse and i have it, no quests after that.
