Dear community,

I recently leveled 4 mages to lvl 42 using a lvl 70 prot pala in a few instances.

1-16 Rage Fire Chasm

16-25 The Dead Mines

25-32 Razorfen Kraul

32-42 Scarlet Monastary

I know I know......could have done RFC --> SFK ---> SM. But I didnt check this site before I started leveling :whistling:

Anyway, I am lvl 42 now, and I went for ZF first.

Getting the pulls together is no problem, but killing them IS! With the famous healing wards, its impossible to grind that place very nicely.

After I tried BRD, but with a prot pala, it isnt very nice and with this place being huge, I dont really know where to put my alts, so I can let them be for 5 min, without them getting aggro, and in a way that I can grind for 5 minutes without moving my alts each 20 seconds so they still get exp.

I am doing quests now, but I would really like to still be able to grind instances with my prot paladin, although I dont really know which instance and how? Do any of you guys got a simple map of the instance YOU are grinding, so I can see where I need to place my alts. And which instance are you guys grinding?

I could really use some advise so I can continue my boosting, because leveling isnt the best way for me.

Thank you in advance.

You could give Mara a shot. I can't say from personal experience that it would be great, but iirc the pulls are pretty Pally friendly especially if you run the place from purple (or is orange the start?).

I feel your pain on ZF tho, i was trying to twink my friend through there on my pally and the healing ward spam is out of control. best to avoid that place like the plague it is...

i did ZF with a warlock no problem.
make a macro for your nubs: /target healing ward /cast XXX
wand them, shoot them, do whatever you like. just spam that macro and you're good to go.
I was able to actually pull 20+ guys with my blueberry and SOC them to death without killing the wards, as I hadn't thought of making the macro yet.

for some instances locks and frost mages are much better. they do not have high repair bills also. do not discount runnng the 5 man though quests at 45-55 range. many areas for this and much better exp now. I have many lvl 70s to pull from. bet for power lvling are as follows

1. Frost mage

2. affic loc with 20 points dem0

3. ehancement shammy

4. Prot pally

5. beastmaster hunter (he can do all ramparts solo or with other 4 helping and no pet heals )

seed of corp if used correctly is one of best power lvling tools a 5 boxer has.

If you have the Colosus trinket, you can do BRD.

Leave your lowbies at that zone in.

First pull: that circular area with lots of patrols.
Make a wide circle, using Blessing of Freedom once after you get netted, and lots of Rank 1 Consecration.
On the 2nd net, face the mobs and walk backwards towards the entrance.

Hopefully you have the Sporeggar shield w/ Spikes as it does help

Use the trinket while leaving SoW/SoW on.
Rank 1 Holy Shield and Rank 1 Consecrate, with Ret Aura.

Use one or all mages to cast Blizzard. :)

2nd pull: I hope you got your BRD key.
Open the door towards the room where you unlock the bridge towards the bar area.
I can do this in one pull, but you can break it into 2.

(gate) -------- (door) --------- (circular area you just cleared.)
Park your lowbies just outside that hallway but have los of the door.

2.1 Pull: Just agro the Fire Elemental patrol, then jump down towards the lever area and grab the agro of all the mobs of the first floor.

Break LoS and fight them outside the door. SoW/SoR on Fire Elemantals--you need to hand pick each and melee em to death. HoJ add Elemental. Your twinker should help heal your up while using R1 HS and Consecrate.
After the 1st elemental die, get on the 2nd etc, this is a good time to use your lowbies' Blizzard.

2.1 Pull: Pull the upper area from all the way in the back where it's a dead end (unless you unlock the bridge), and pull the rest of of the mobs, jump off the ledge and out the door. You should have time to 1 or 2 Holy Light if you need. Repeat.

I ran ZF to 45, the trick is to watch your pulls with Witch Doctors. I tried not to pull more than 2 of them and focus fire them down 1st thing. You might consider Uldaman back-door you can get some nice pulls through there and just AOE it all down, mobs are a few levels higher than SM but I'm not sure how the XP will be.

I'm running BRD now with my 70 Prot pally, 4x Shaman are L46. The problem is your mages wont really be able to help you here since the mobs are 6+ levels ahead of you. Here's the loop I do:

First go straight in, first pull is the round room with patrols just like Sanctume says. Depending on your gear and since you don't have any healers, consider splitting this in to 2 pulls.

Next I do the loop around the Arena area. I split it up into 3 or 4 pulls, usually pull about 20-25 mobs each time. You get 2 bosses (Lord Roccor and Houndmaster Grebmar) here as well. Again I have my Shaman to heal me so you will probably want to do smaller pulls, since your mages won't really be able to help much with DPS at L42 I think. Just start small and work your way up to find what you can pull off. Then I go pull the room with the Shadowforge Lock and the few groups of dwarves upstairs. Then I go reset. It's about 4-5 bubbles I think, maybe 25 minutes for a run.
I skip the mobs in the loop with the jail keeper boss since they throw nets and tend to stack DoTs on my Shaman which gets them killed sometime, its just not worth it.

I was interrupted and had to post what I had earlier.

The 3rd pull I do in BRD is the 2nd tunnel to the left from the entrance. I dont need to move my lowbies where they are parked during the 2nd pull.

This 2nd tunnel actually circles out the 3rd tunnel. There are a lot of guard packs some with fire elementals, but none of them nets you.

In this pull, you can avoid agro dodging the packs until the mid point where you see 2 x 2 dwarves and too narrow w/o agroing. I wait for the named rock elemental and avenging shield the pack w/ it--Lord Roccor I think.

I run back, tossing HS as I run into a pack, Consecrate pass by another pack, Mana tap on fire ele, judge another pack.
It depends on how many fire ele are there. IF there is 3 or more, I only try to pull 3, and avoid other packs.

When you're low on HP, and you will be, I turn around and trinket which heals me back to pull as I come out the tunnel 2. I use Avenging Wrath and max consecration. I pull them and break Los against the tunnel wall, and I move up to where the Fire Ele stops and shoot fire ball at me. Kill fire ele first, Lord Roccor will die my melee. But he does a knock back, but I survive that.

After the 2nd max consecration, I use the lowbie mages aoe.

The 4th pull is the 3rd tunnel. Near the end of this tunnel is a room with a named mob with lots of dogs. I shield pull him, rinse and repeat with the packs on the way out of tunnel 3.

The 5th pull is optional, and you pull by going on the 2nd entrance from the right. At the end of this barrack looking area, is another named mob. I kinda hate this pull because there are mobs that nets you. They also run away and sometimes you get more adds from patrols from the left and right tunnels. It's a hassle sometimes, but good exp nonetheless.

I've gotten 75k exp per hours non-rested doing this; 2-boxing. 65k when 3-boxing. And about 50k with a full 5. It can be more if the lowbies help heal/aoe.

Ill ty to get some test runs going, I didnt know that only the mobs at the right of the start point of the instance could net you! thats positive. The thing is that I dont got the trinket, so thats fucked up.

Thanks for the great advise here how to put my chars and how to run BRD.

Any other optional places for a prot pala if this aint gonna work?

PS: going BRD now.

Thanks in advance,

I advise running Shattered Halls until you get that trinket. :) Hands down the best trinket for a protection paladin who's grinding a ton of mobs at once. Took about 15 runs for me unfortunately :( but good luck to you.

Uldaman and ZF are the next instance, until you can zone into Strath/Scholo.

Colosus Trinket + Spreggar Shield w/ Spike + Darkmoon Blessing Card.

Use with Retribution Aura + Blessing of Sanctuary + Holy Shield = lots of melee mobs dead.
