Is this legal?

I have a face target macro on my shaman team. Basically it does two things in one keystroke: follows the focus and then immediately steps back to break follow. Now is this legal? Seems to me it's two actions for one keystroke.

Not only is the mapped key legal (you won't go to jail for using it), it won't get your warcraft account into trouble either.

The whole one key = one action GM quote has been taken very far out of the context in which it was given.

The point the GM was making is if you push a single key now, and something occurs now, then that is fine. Even if that something is one key causing your character to IWT and then turn. Or to move both forward and strafe left at the same time. It doesn't matter the number of keys that are sent to warcraft in response to your key input, as long as everything that happens ends up happening now as a direct result of the input. The DK Manifesto suggests one keybind on key press and six on key release; warcrafts GCD prevents more than 'x' spells per 'time' firing off and all of the keys occur immediately as a result of the key event, so that won't jeopardize your account either.

Further in the quote, the GM goes on to say if you can on a single button push have a mage Frost Nova now, wait for the global cooldown, Blink, wait for the global cooldown, and then cast another spell, that would be considered multiple actions on one key press. So sticking to one action for one press is a good idea.




I'd set it up as two steps, with the IWT on step one and the back move on step two.
Then set the mapped key to hold keystrokes while the key is held down.
And to execute a step on press or release.

You have two key events occurring.
The press of the key.
The release of the key.

That gives you a lot more control.
Push and hold the key, which will have your toons IWT with the target.
Release the key and the movement ends.
Which you can use, to recover from a fear-bomb, for example.

Agreed, the keydown IWT and keyUp step back is the way.

Sidebar that some people might have to have their targeting glitched if this is in recovery of a fear bomb or similar effect though.
