I have this wide lcd, Samsung 204bw.
I read somewhere (can't find it anymore off google) that it can run portrait mode. But the reviewer said he "hacked" the monitor stand by unscrewing and filing off (using a dremel) a couple of metals, but it reattaches fine.
Before I do some hardware filing with, what software do I need to tell my monitor to display as portrait?
I am currently running XP Home in this computer where I need it to display portait.
p.s. Oh, here's the reviewer's comment about the portrait mode hack.

Cons: Let me see . . . . uh . . . . hmmmm . . . . can't think of a thing. The monitor description doesn't say that it adjusts from landscape to portrait (because it doesn't), but if you remove the stand and break off two very small metal tabs you can re-mount the stand in portrait mode instead of landscape. Just use a dremel and then blow off all the metal dust. If you do make this modification, the stand's height adjustment still holds the bottom of the monitor frame about 1.5 inches off the desk.
Additional ThoughtsYes, I had one once.
