View Full Version : Crashes?

I've been using keyclone for a while now with my main machine being Vista 64 bit, running 1 client, and my 'offmachine' being XP 32 bit running 4 clients
Every once in a while (up to 20 times / day) keyclone just 'stops' doing anything, I can't even try to close it with right click exit or w/e. Only way to close it is by ctrl+alt+delete then closing it in running processes.
Anyway the closing is not the issue, the crashing is, as soon as this lockup happens keys dont get broadcasted. Since I play lvl 70 warrior with low lvl healer alts, I boost them through instances, but i need healing every 5 seconds or so, which is where i use keyclone for. Keyclone lockup means wipe, means a whole lot of lost time and repair money, which is getting incredibly annoying.
Is it possible that my machine is causing this, or is it a known bug or so in keyclone?
EDIT: it's always the 2ndary pc where it gets stuck, the 'server'-keyclone runs fine, never had to restart it as of yet

Sounds like a problem with your machine.
I'd suggest re-installing the OS on the secondary machine.

there haven't been any reports of behavior like this... if there were, i'd fix it asap.
i'd agree with Wilbur. check your system memory as well. bad memory can cause very odd behaviors.
also, what software is running on the box? what have you run on the box? be careful what you install...

i'm quite 'good' with computers in general, as in keeping them cleaned up and free from malware, tweaking settings etc, so its not some noobish mistake. It might be a RAM problem as I did have problems with that particular laptop before (3 hardware parts replaced).
I'm gonna install vista on it and check if that fixes the problem. I'll let you know here if not :)
thanks

also, overheating can cause many computers to go flaky.
on laptops, this is easier to do by accidentally blocking the exhaust port
btw... if you install vista, keyclone will most likely expire on you. just drop me a PM with your old keyclone system-id and the new, expired, system-id (SIKC-...) and i'll transfer it over for you.

I have experienced this on my laptop as well, running Vista 32 with 3gb of ram. 2 clients... it hasn't happened for several versions now though.

got vista now, but the problem persists.
Anything else on the computer works, so I'm not sure what it could possibly be.
It's basic now - installed vista 32 bit, installed gfx card driver, copied wow map, installed keyclone & octopus.
Nothing else

What do you have set as your maxFPS and maxFPSbk? I had this issue all of the time until I turned those 2 settings down - and this on a machine with 8g of RAM, 2 8800 GT's and a quad core.

I had a keyclone crash yesterday on version u. Doesn't happen very often though. An indicator of an iminent crash for me is there's a kind of bell sound and my G5 mouse stops working, then after 10 seconds another bell sound and everything is fine. After this there's an even money chance that keyclone will crash. Luckily for me it hasn't caused a wipe though. I don't know whether it's keyclone or the mouse that's causing the issue, it only happens while I'm boxing. so I'm wondering if there's a compatibility issue with G5 and keyclone, has anyone experienced a similar situation?

I haven't touched these settings.
Is this in wow or in keyclone itself?
also, the problem got fixed when i unhooked my keyboard from Octopus, but with the new octopus (when i have time to install new .net) i'll be using it again hopefully.
