Hey folks,
All my toons have just about completed Cybernetics 4 and are ready to install the full set of +4 implants I have bought them.
My question is:
If I continue the SoE arc with these implants in, what is the likelyhood that I will be pod killed and lose these implants?
Would love to progress the questslines but don't want to lose these bonuses to levelling speeds.
Or should I just wait until I can fly a fully equipped Drake and take all 4 as a unit? :D

Does the epic arc lead you into lowsec space then? As far as I am aware NPC's do not pod you, only kill the ship your flying so implants are kept safe.

0.5 so far, nothing that seems too low.
It's just i've been seeing a lot of red/orange highlighted ships, the ones with low sec, and i've been target locked a few times in my Kestrel.
Would hate to lose the 100M in ISK I paid for the +4's.
Guess i'll just give it a shot and see what happens

yeah thats standard noob baiting technics. Your in the AoE area in a newbie ship, they are going to assume your a noob and try and get you to attack them for kicks and giggles.
Ignore them. if they do attack you they will get popped before they can pod you. There is no way for them to know A. your SP, or B, your implants. They have nothing to gain from podding you, if they do it too much they lose their sec status and they wont be allowed into 0.5 at all. and as I say, I doubt SOE puts you into 0.4 or below.

NPCs will not pod you, absolutely true, don't worry about it. The Lvl 1 epic arc is all in hisec space but make sure your autopilot is set to avaoid lowsec.
Of the people playing EVE:
50% are mining bots - you only see them in belts
40% are station traders/forum warriors - you only see them in stations
10% are complete scum who will gank, scam, grief any target of opportunity - you see them everywhere
There's a setting in the options to target back anyone who targets you - make sure that is set to 0 targets as it's a way for griefers to work out you're a noob.
Common griefing tactics:
leaving cans outside stations - this is bannable if done in new player areas but the new players don't know to report it as griefing...
flipping cans of ore in belts
suicide ganking ships
Also you might want to consider +5 implants for some of your characters, they're expensive both in costs and time to learn Cybernetics V but they're well worth it for long term investment.
>if they do attack you they will get popped before they can pod you.
Not always true, there are battleship suicide ganks at times - thats one way to take down freighters and the insurnace sometimes allows them to make a profit from doing so
>There is no way for them to know A. your SP
They can estimate though - generally a player earns up to 1M SP per moth since their 'birth date'. Which is why my charcters can all be mistaken asmuch better than they are thanks to my several 6-9 month extended breaks from EVE. Cetificates are public IIRC and they're an easy way to work out how good someone is.

Cheers for the info guys.
I'll just play and take whatever happens, at the minute my guys are just parked in a station learning skills.
Once they're all sufficiently done, i'll start doing missions while I await the HULKS!
Going to start a 5th account with a dedicated hauler and refiner, may make the mining organisation a bit better

Something everyone forgets about a refining char is they want good standings with the station they plan on refining in to offset the 5% cut the station takes. This can be tricky to pull off unless you have a missioner to help you out or buy a corp with good standings. Has anyone ever managed to lower that 5 % cut?

There's no point in having a seperate refining char becasue the refining skills are the ones you need to learn to use the mining crystals in a hulk - so all your chars will have refining skills - however it's worth having one of them improve their skills beyond the minimum.
Choice of station also has a big difference as they range from 30 to 50% base yield which has a _huge_ effect on the amount you get out. Need to shop around to find the right place to deliver your ore for refining.
Another point, ice mining is easier to learn and can be done semi afk very easily because the ice harvester cycle time is enormous and the iceteroids are huge and never pop, meaning you can set up a rigged hulk with 15K cargo capacity and let it run for 5 cycles - well over half an hour even with decent skills.. But ice doesn't yield as good an income per hour as belt mining.

Figured out about refining when using EVEMon, so not going to do a specific refining toon. Looks like he'll become a hauler/mining protector toon. Training him in Amarr Industrial for that nice ship (can't remember name right now) and probably up to Drake class for defence
