View Full Version : [WoW] Ganking in Uldum

I found a pretty decent place to gank the opposite fraction in Uldum.
While I doing my 3 xmute from life to air via taking the portal in SW to Uldum.
The very place that you arrive is the best place to gank in coming hordes.
I stand there, wait for RED tags, and engage. Those with 115K HP or less do the graveyard run.
5 seconds or less is all it takes. I have taken down 150k HPs too. I am not sure how long is the load screen, but most die.
Be warned, if they do get away and train the guards to you, you will have a repair bill. But I usually see gankers standing on roof or top of those poles in front and do the ganking.
What freaked me out is that there are toons with over 190K HPs already! What am I doing wrong gears wise!?
I am lvl 84, pally (90K hp) and four spacegoats (76K), in quest gears. NO potion buffs, no gems, no reforging, no enchants. In the past two days, I made the 100 kills achievements, spending 20 minutes there each day.
Now, I am not saying this is right, but I am on a PVP server, and I do remember when I started out, my boxing LIFE was MISERABLE in Outlands and NR (before acquiring cold flight skill), I have hordes swooping down and wiped the floor off me, usually lvl 80s with 30k HP+.
Am I bad for doing this? Boxer griefing nonboxer? If this is causing boxers bad rep, I will stop. Just wanted to know how the community think!
Thanks!

I sincerely hate you and anyone else that does this because you are exploiting an advantage and a weakness in the game. You are taking advantage of zone loading lag and the fact guards are all melee. Neither guards nor melee classes can reach you when you are on top of buildings/obelisks/whatever. I sincerely hope you get camped over and over and over again by the groups of people you grief there.
Do you really have nothing better to do with your life than grief people? You are causing the same misery that you experienced in Outlands and NR.
/end rant
To answer your questions:
1: Yes you are bad for doing this. Moreover, you are giving yourself a bad rep. I guarantee you are on many people's KoS list now.
2: Yes you are probably giving boxers a bad rep, but that is irrelevant because people who hate boxers will hate us no matter what we do. People use this spot frequently (on both factions) who are not boxers.

But I am NOT on top (roofs, obelisks). I am down at the bottom.
If this is considered taking advantage. I will stop.
thank you for the feedback.

Not for or against here, but I think I read in the hotfix they gave the guards ways to get you anyways if you're unreachable.

For me it's this simple: Everything in moderation. If you camp someone for 1 hour, I think it's pathetic. Goes for anything, anywhere, anytime in pvp situations.

Meh. I normally don't camp unless someone is a complete idiot.
I was "AFK" (as in, at my computer, but watching a vid on my second screen) at a FP in Hyjal last night with my 5 shammies (all 81 and 82). A human 80 mage landed, stared at me for a bit, then went just out of guard range. Now, my AFK tags are up, so I suppose he thought he'd get 5 free kills. As soon as his FFB was let loose I dropped 5 groundings, hauled ass towards him away from the guards, and instagibbed him. I proceeded to kill him every time I saw him, as we were obviously doing the same quests. He must have called for help, because an 85 moonkin showed up and bbq'd me and left, but I got the mage a couple more times before he left. I must have seen 10 other allies that didn't touch me and I didn't touch them, but that mage had it coming, in my (not so honest) opinion.

I think it's awesome personally if done in moderation.
After starting to level my 80 druids, i immediately noticed the flurry of chat about how so many 85s were doing nothing but camping people. Once one of them found me, they they see a boxer, so they wouldn't leave me alone, hovering above waiting for an opportunity to strike when i'm questing, but unforunately for them, 80s hit a lot harder than 85s due to the massive crit differences. All in all, a few of my toons died a couple times, but being able to re-rez them before they were back from GY made the difference.
The absolute worst for me was being in town and someone would attack from a rooftop. They get no guard aggro, and if you decide to heal, you'll immediately draw guard aggro on all your toons which is incredibly stupid.
As far as farming HKs, I can't see this being effective as the targets are non-HKs for 15-20 seconds when they first zone in.

LOL on the "AFK" flag. I've been debating on making a druid "trap" video as nothing is more fun than setting a nice trap by keeping your followers stealthed. If I see an ally, I'll stealth the followers, and quest side by side with them. I would say 9 out of 10 will attack you as soon as your under 50% HP. What's funny is the other percent that are actually nice I'll /wave with all 5 toons.

Call me a vindictive bastard if you will...
If they (opposite faction, in general) wanted to take advantage of the mechanics of the game (being 20+ levels higher) while you were in the leveling process...
They're fair game when they zone in, even if they're a worthless target as far as HK's and/or Honor accumulation goes; the game makes them worthless targets, but still allows them to be targeted (if they were to not be targeted, they would be made immune and stunned, or perhaps given a Sanctuary area to port into, in each zone).
You are not exploiting the roof; you're in a position where other players or guards can get to you.
And you're on a PvP server, where players on both factions explicitly allow pvp activity.

all is fair in love and war. But seriously everything in moderation. It does feel good to bully nonboxers ^_^

Considering how many times I got honestly griefed and the GM's never did shit about it, I say gank 'em til hell freezes over. Moderation can bite me. If they're really butthurt about you, they can call for help and if their faction-mates don't help, well then lol @ them.
Now, I'll tell you to bite me too as I'm a hordie by heart, but you're a fellow multiboxer and I know what you've been through to get where you are. ;)

You give a bad name to the Alliance, not boxers. A lot of new players roll Alliance because they assume they're the "good" guys or whatever.
I won't say bad things about you, cause this community isn't about that, but I counter-gank cowards who team-gank hordies all the time.

I've heard of people who used to have an extra account, back when you couldn't have both factions on the same account and server, for the PvP servers.
So someone pisses you off and camps your team for hours or whatever, with a toon 50 levels higher than your team.
You then add them to your friend list, on the account which is on their faction. Anyone on that friend list, is your gank targets. Which of course tracks whenever they're online, as well as their current zone.
To each their own.

Gank to your heart's content mate. PvP servers are all about this. PvE servers are that way --->

We are the good guys. And horde are the bad guys, who have tp be put down. SImple as that :P

Jan. 6 hotfixes (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/1232869):
The Ramkahen Guardians now correctly melee, throw nets to snare characters, and utilize knock-back shots with their bows when they are unable to path to the target.
