That is really sweet, but I REALLY want at least a 6-8 core, so I'm trying to wait. I'm not sure how long it will be though. I doubt I can wait more than 6 more months.

What's the 'unlocked' bit all about? I usually associate that with hardware workarounds like cell phones.

I hear you man, I canceled my 980X build after reading that stuff the other day to wait for a 6 or 8 core Sandy Bridge setup myself.

Unfortunately, 6 and 8-core Sandy Bridge aren't due until Q3 of 2011.

Well the store opened at 11, I was there at 8:45 - others started showing up at 9:15. There were some people apparently who managed to leverage a bug i n the microcenter ordering process, getting some processors allocated for shipping at the in store price.
Of the 40+ people in line for the purposes of purchasing one of the new I7 2600k processors me and....
..2...
... other people got one.
Who says fanatacism doesn't get you anywhere.
