View Full Version : Mercurio's Cataclysm Macros at 85

I wanted to update where I am with my macros now that I'm 85 and have worked to get things set up properly.

I'm still definitely using the 2-Step methodology that I talked about in my original thread (using alternating Sequence and Proc macros for each toon). Original thread here: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=32633
I would have just updated that thread, but it is already very full and it may be a good source of level 80 macros for those still leveling.

I've updated and tweaked the macros for level 85 abilities and have two sets of macros on my toons:
1) Casts at the target of the toon's focus (usually the party leader is set as the focus). This is the same philosophy used in the previous thread and offers flexibility in terms of setting someone other than the party lead as the main assist. This may be helpful when raiding with others when your "main" isn't the main assist.
2) Casts at the target's target, freeing up focus for CC. This has been a godsend in heroics to be able to assign targets to each toon for CC. However, the way I've set it up, the party or raid lead is always the one targetted, so you can't assist others easily. This also won't work well in BGs or other raid-based PvP unless you hard-wire your leader's name into the macros.

I'll list out the targettarget macros here and list the focus macros for the first class only as an example.

To optimize rotations and ensure channeling spells are not broken, I had to get another addon to deal with macros that are longer than 255 characters. Super Duper Macro seems to be buggy now and isn't being updated, so I went with Clickmacros. This is a bit clunky, but it works well enough. BTW, if you choose to install it, you access it by going to WoW's Interface menu (hit ESC) and go to the addons tab.

I think these macros are pretty solid, but as always, I'm certain that they could benefit from some community tweaking. So please provide feedback and we'll make them even better!

Macros below:

Note: I put the spell Holy Word: Chastise on BT4Button75 to actually cast that spell.

Other Macros

I'll also include a couple other macros that I use that are not activated by the same 2-Step key as all of the above, but may be useful:

Holy Main Healing Macro - this is a bound to a seperate key than all these other macros so my priest can heal independently, though I find myself spamming it most of the time
/stopmacro [channeling]
/cast Chakra
/castsequence reset=combat [target=raid1target,help,nodead][target=party1target,help,nodead][target=focus,exists,nodead][target=raid1,exists,nodead][target=party1,exists,nodead] Heal,Renew,Heal,Heal,Heal,Heal,Heal,Heal,Heal,Heal ,Heal
/use 13

Holy Burst Healing Macro - bound to yet a different key when things get rough
/stopmacro [channeling]
/cast [target=raid1target,help,nodead][target=party1target,help,nodead][target=raid1,exists,nodead][target=party1,exists,nodead] Greater Heal

Set Focus Macro (when using targettarget macros and wanting to do some CC, I target something with my main and hit this macro for an individual toon)
/tar party1
/tar raid1
/tar targettarget
/focus
/tar party1
/tar raid1

A general observation: using [@focustarget] instead of /assist focus will make those macros cleaner, and possibly even allow you to merge the tank based & focused based macros into a single entry. Just decide whether you want to default to DPSing the tanks target or DPSing your focus by default, and set the order of the conditionals appropriately.

While I do prefer @focustarget myself, it does not work with macros that need to reset when changing target and certain things that work better when having a target (mostly wanding, so nvm that part), so I understand why he uses /assist focus to allow for the better macros with target resets. Every little bit helps when 10 boxing.

I made another thread regarding this but thought I should put this information here too.

For those not using isboxer and are looking for a method to switch between the two macros on one key, you can use actionbar switching ie.

/changeactionbar 2 (add to end of dps)
/changeactionbar 1 (add to end of proc)

Setup actionbar 1 and 2 the same except for the dps and proc macros, then it will switch everytime you press the macro - even if it fails because a spell isn't ready.

xxxtgdestx, I linked to my original 2 Step post in the second line of the top post in this thread. For info on ISBoxer, look at the Software Tools forum.

any dk macros?

Try the search. I know there's DK macros out there because I've posted an UH one and seen several people posting about frost and blood.

Take a look at Mosg2's DK Manifesto.
There are two versions.

That should get you a decent starting point.

Your choices are: Blood, Frost or Unholy.
Each has a preferred Runic Power dump.
- Blood = Rune Strike
- Frost = Frost Strike
- Unholy = Death Coil

Beyond that, you have two runes of each type.
And they refresh 5 seconds after they're used.
So as long as you have no more than one of each type of rune (per 5 seconds) or more than two of each type (per 10 seconds) the runes will replenish as you use them.
You would ideally like to use the runes a little faster then they regenerate, so the Runic Power dump can fire off.

What spec are you looking at?

I seem to recall that Blizzard did some sort of fix regarding morphing spells, eg. Moonfire <> Sunfire and the various Holy Words so they would behave correctly for macros. However, I don't remember exactly what it is that they fixed. Would we be able to take the Sunfire talent in light of this fix?

I remember reading about that as well. I cant seem to find the info though. That would really help though!

I have tested it, and the results are very strange. Blizzard did indeed "fix" the use of morphing spells in macros. But not quite well enough.

Using a castsequence with Moonfire in it, and taking the Sunfire talent:

If you're in a solar eclipse, it will follow the castsequence as usual and will successfully cast Sunfire. However, the sequence will become "stuck" on Sunfire forever and that druid will just keep casting it over and over, ignoring anything else in the castsequence.

In light of this, I still take the Sunfire talent, but I manage moonkin dots manually and use castsequence only for Wrath & Starfire.

Strangely enough, a simple castsequence of just:

#showtooltip
/castsequence Moonfire, Insect Swarm

works perfectly (casts Sunfire in solar eclipse, moonfire otherwise) and does not get stuck. I simply haven't been able to isolate what is causing the other castsequence to hang (using Mercurio's Balance DPS macro) yet this simple one works correctly. Can anyone do some additional testing?

For DK macros i use these in my Games helpers:

DK blood Sequence:

!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood" and character in "WoW Melee") /startattack
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /script UIErrorsFrame:UnregisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /console Sound_EnableSFX 0

!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood")/castsequence reset=4/target/combat Icy Touch,Plague Strike,Pestilence,Heart Strike,Death Strike,Heart Strike,Icy Touch,Plague Strike,Heart Strike,Death Strike, Icy Touch,Plague Strike,Pestilence,Heart Strike,Death Strike,Heart Strike,Icy Touch,Plague Strike,Heart Strike,Death Strike

!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /script UIErrorsFrame:RegisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /console Sound_EnableSFX 1

DK Blood Proc:

!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /stopmacro [@target,noexists] [noharm] [dead]
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /startattack
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /script UIErrorsFrame:UnregisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /console Sound_EnableSFX 0

!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /use 13
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /use 14
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /cast Rune Strike

!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /script UIErrorsFrame:RegisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
!if (character in "Class Death Knights Blood") /console Sound_EnableSFX 1

might not be the best out there but it works so far.

A bit late for the boomkin talk, but I tri-boxed boomkins and I had a somewhat workable macro setup. I haven't played them in a while, but whenever I had lunar spec, I did

/castsequence reset=target/18 Insect Swarm, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath, wrath

and when I did solar

/castsequence reset=target/18 Moonfire, starfire, starfire, starfire, starfire, starfire, starfire, starfire, starfire

I would have to jump on them again and give it a go to confirm if this worked or not. Basically I would spam the one that was currently proc'd.
